a presente invenção refere-se ao comutador eternet (2) para rede por fibra óptica (1), comporta: um primeiro emissor de luz (5a) destinado a transmitir um sinal luminoso na fibra óptica (1), um primeiro fotodetector (4a) configurado para transformar um sinal luminoso proveniente da fibra óptica (1) em um sinal elétrico, pelo menos uma porta de comunicação de sinais elétricos com um terminal (6), um circuito de alimentação (8) configurado para alimentar o emissor de luz (5a) e o primeiro fotodetector (4a), um circuito de alarme (10) conectado ao primeiro fotodetector (4a) e à porta de comunicação configurada para gerar um sinal de alarme elétrico à recebimento de um sinal luminoso pelo primeiro fotodetector (4a) e/ou de um sinal elétrico sobre a porta de comunicação, o circuito de alarme (10) sendo conectado ao circuito de alimentação (8) para iniciar a alimentação do primeiro emissor de luz (5a) e da porta de comunicação.
