A presente invenção refere-se a um produto de alimento seco de animal de estimação de densidade aumentada que é fornecido tendo uma densidade volumétrica de 0,40 g/cm^ 3^ (25 libras por pé cúbico), atividade de <244>- amilase residual na faixa de 0,1 a 57 NU por grama do produto de alimento de animal de estimação, e tendo uma maciez aumentada ou mantida. Um método de produção do produto de alimento seco de animal de estimação é também fornecido.
