Abstract

"PIGMENTO DE CAULIM HIDRATADO, COMPOSIçãO DE REVESTIMENTO OU DE ENCHEDOR DE PAPEL, PRODUTO DO PROCESSO, E, SUBSTRATO à BASE DE CELULOSE". A presente invenção provê caulins de alta intensidade de brilho apresentando um Brilho (GE) de pelo menos cerca de 90,0. Os pigmentos de caulim hidratados da presente invenção também podem ter, inter alia, um índice de saturação (d~ 30~/d~ 70~ X 100) de pelo menos cerca de 39 e/ou uma concentração de titânia menor ou igual a cerca de 0,40% em peso do pigmento em uma base seca. O pigmento de caulim hidratado é produzido por um processo que compreende: a) formar uma suspensão aquosa de uma argila de caulim hidratado; b) formar um produto primário submetendo-se a suspensão a classificação ou a uma combinação de classificação e moagem; c) separar o caulim das impurezas mediante floculação seletiva; e d) definir o caulim separado. Os caulins hidratados da presente invenção permitem que os papéis revestidos sejam produzidos em alto brilho, enquanto mantêm as condições ácidas em uma máquina de fabricar papel. Os pigmentos da invenção apresentam níveis de brilho inesperadamente mais elevados, por exemplo de cerca de 2 a cerca de 2,5 ou mais unidades (GE) mais brilhantes, do que os apresentados pelos pigmentos de caulim hidratados de alto brilho anteriores, sem sacrificar outras propriedades importantes do papel. O papel revestido com os pigmentos da invenção têm alto brilho, alta brancura e altos níveis de fluorescência. A presente invenção inclui estes pigmentos, as composições compreendendo-os, e qualquer aplicação em que eles sejam usados.
