"DISPERSANTE E MELHORADOR DE ìNDICE DE VISCOSIDADE MULTIFUNCIONAL". é revelado um processo que compreende enxertar em solução um polímero de hidrocarboneto preparado de pelo menos um hidrocarboneto polimerizável C~ 2~ a C~ 28~, o referido polímero tendo um peso molecular médio numérico compreendido na faixa de aproximadamente 5.000 a aproximadamente 500.000, com um material de ácido carboxílico C~ 3~ a C~ 10~ etilenicamente insaturado, utilizando um iniciador de radical livre, na presença de um óleo éster aromático da fórmula em que R~ 1~, R~ 2~, R~ 3~, R~ 4~, R~ 5~ e R~ 6~ são independentemente selecionados do grupo que consiste em hidrogênio, -COOR~ 7~, COOR~ 8~, -COOR~ 9~, -COOR~ 10~, -COOR~ 11~ e -COOR~ 12~, desde que não mais do que 5 entre R~ 1~, R~ 2~, R~ 3~, R~ 4~, R~ 5~ e R~ 6~ sejam hidrogênio, e R~ 7~, R~ 8~, R~ 9~, R~10, R~ 11~ e R~ 12~ sejam independentemente selecionados do grupo que consiste em alquila e alquil ésteres.
