A presente invenção está relacionada a uma fibra composta do tipo sea-island e um processo para o seu preparo. De acordo com a presente invenção, a fibra composta do tipo sea-island [ou um tecido tricotado com urdidura aveludado que seja preparado através do método de estiramento por trefilamento direto por meio do uso de um poliéster de co-polímero solúvel em álcali como um componente sea e poliéster consistindo principalmente de terefrtalato de polietileno de mais do que 90% em moles como um componente island, no qual a fibra composta satisfaz às seguintes propriedades termo-elásticas e visco-elásticas: - número de presença de picos do ponto de fusão: 4, - temperatura do pico principal do ponto de fusão do componente sea [Tms]: 220~235<198>C, - temperatura de pico principal do ponto de fusão do componente island [Tmi] 245~255<198>C, - temperatura do primeiro pico de transição[T<244>] de índice visco-elástico (tan<sym>) 120~150<198>C e - valor do índice visco-elástico [tan<sym><244>] do primeiro pico de transição (pico <sym>) 0,10-0,20. The sea-island composite fiber prepared by the present invention has good thermal shrinkage properties and excellent velvety property and improves the appearance and feel of the warp knitting.
