Um processo e um sistema para a produção de um produto de argónio de alta pureza com elevada recuperação de argónio de uma corrente de ar de alimentação utilizando uma coluna de destilação de argónio de baixa taxa, uma coluna de destilação de argónio de alta taxa e uma unidade de adsorção com oscilação de pressão e vácuo em combinação com uma planta de separação criogênica de ar. O processo e o sistema evitam a necessidade de uma coluna superior de ultraestágios na planta de separação criogênica de ar.
