No UMTS, é propiciada reserva de recursosmediante o uso de mensagens unidirecionais RSVP paraestabelecer um contexto PDP bidirecional. A MT 30 e um nó desuporte 24 podem estar adaptados para comparar mensagensRSVP de chegada com qualquer contexto PDP secundárioexistente e, se for encontrada uma correspondência, não é tomadaqualquer ação sobre a mensagem de chegada. A correspondênciaé feita determinando-se se é ajustada uma bandeira. Isto elimina"corrida" quando cada extremidade de uma sessão RSVP enviauma mensagem RSVP.
