Abstract

"COMPOSIçãO PARA ALIMENTO DE ANIMAIS DE ESTIMAçãO PARA CONTROLAR A RESPOSTA GLICêMICA E INSULìNICA PóS REFEIçãO EM UM ANIMAL DE COMPANHIA, E, USO DA MESMA". São proporcionados uma composição e processo para controlar a resposta glicêmica e/ou insulínica pós refeição em animais de companhia tais como cachorros. A composição para animais de estimação inclui uma fonte de proteína, uma fonte de gordura e uma fonte de carboidrato de uma fonte de grãos que exclui o arroz. O uso de fontes preferidas de carboidratos incluindo uma combinação de milho e sorgo; uma combinação de milho, sorgo e cevada; uma combinação de milho, sorgo e aveia; e uma combinação de aveia e cevada, tende a modular as respostas glicêmica e insulínica do animal após uma refeição. Esse efeito é ainda mais marcante quando a composição é dada como alimento para animais de companhia geriátricos, tal como cachorros.
