<B>PROCESSO PARA APERFEIçOAR AS CARACTERìSTICAS DE CINZA DE UM ARTIGO DE FUMAR<D> A presente invenção é dirigida a um método para aperfeiçoar as características de cinza de um envoltório de papel para um artigo de fumar e para melhorar as características de cinza do próprio artigo de fumar. Especificamente, descobriu-se que as características de cinza de um envoltório de papel são perceptivelmente aperfeiçoadas quando o papel é tratado com uma solução de sal de ácido carboxílico com pH de aproximadamente 5,5 a aproximadamente 8,0. A solução de sal de ácido carboxílico pode ser, por exemplo, uma solução aquosa contendo um succinato de metal ou um citrato de metal.
