Um absorvente higiênico é apresentado, o qual é fino, altamente absorvente e tem uma flexibilidade selecionada para prover um bom potencial de conforto e, ao mesmo tempo, reduzir a probabilidade de deformação descontrolada, conhecida como enrugamento. Em um exemplo específico, o absorvente tem uma camada de revestimento, um sistema absorvente e uma camada de barreira. O sistema absorvente tem um material superabsorvente em uma matriz de fibras celulósicas.
