"PROCESSOS PARA CODIFICAR DADOS, PARA EXTRAIR DADOS SUPLEMENTARES DE DADOS CODIFICADOS E PARA EXTRAIR INFORMAçãO, SINAL, PORTADOR DE DADOS COM UM SINAL GRAVADO, ARRANJO PARA EXECUTAR UM PROCESSO, E, DISPOSITIVO DE REPRODUçãO" Há dois processos diferentes de embutir dados suplementares, por exemplo, para marcação d'água em um sinal codificado. I) para um codificador, requerendo informação auxiliar para codificar (=provavelmente informação aqui), a informação auxiliar para codificar os dados suplementares é derivada de outros dados usados no processo de codificação. Assim, o dados auxiliares derivados não precisam ser armazenados, que faz embutimento económico em termos de quantidade de bit. II) No processo de codificação usado para super CD de áudio, um conjunto de parâmetros (por exemplo coeficientes de filtro) é usado pelo codificador, pelo qual estes parâmetros têm que ser armazenados, como eles são necessitados para decodificação. Para embutir dados suplementares, pelo menos um dos parâmetros escolhidos (por exemplo o LSB do primeiro coeficiente) é colocado a um valor dedicado em resposta ao valor dos dados suplementares a serem embutidos. Assim, a taxa de bit não será afetada de forma alguma.
