Abstract
"PROCESSOS ELETROQUìMICOS PARA O TRATAMENTO DE EFLUENTES AQUOSOS CONTENDO METAIS PESADOS". Este processo refere-se a um método eletroquímico utilizado no tratamento e/ou despoluição de efluentes aquosos contendo metais pesados advindos das indústrias de tratamentos de superfície, de explosivos, metal-mecânica, de fertilizantes, da produção de jóias e semijóias e outras, através do uso de células eletrolíticas utilizando catodos tridimensionais (esponjas de carbono vítreo reticulado, esponjas metálicas, etc.). O processo promove a remoção catódica de íons de metais pesados presentes no efluente. A eficiência do processo foi verificada tratando-se efluentes contendo alguns íons de metais pesados, como cobre, chumbo e zinco em diferentes meios. Nos ensaios realizados os teores metálicos foram reduzidos de aproximadamente 50 mg.L^ -1^ para 0,1 mg.L^ -1^ em 30 minutos, equivalendo a uma taxa de remoção em torno de 99,9%."ELECTROCHEMICAL PROCESSES FOR THE TREATMENT OF WATER EFFLUENTS CONTAINING HEAVY METALS". This process refers to an electrochemical method used in the treatment and / or depollution of aqueous effluents containing heavy metals from the surface treatment, explosives, metal-mechanics, fertilizer, jewelry and semi-jewelery and other industries, through the use of electrolytic cells using three-dimensional cathodes (cross-linked vitreous carbon sponges, metal sponges, etc.). The process promotes the cathodic removal of heavy metal ions present in the effluent. The efficiency of the process was verified by treating effluents containing some heavy metal ions, such as copper, lead and zinc in different media. In the tests performed, the metal contents were reduced from approximately 50 mg.L ^ -1 ^ to 0.1 mg.L ^ -1 ^ in 30 minutes, equivalent to a removal rate of around 99.9%.
