Abstract

The catalyst is suitable for treating exhausts from internal-combustion engines. Its carrier is made of nickel with a cellular structure eliminating the need for using costly aluminium-based ferritic steels. The catalyst is designed as a complex high-porosity block made up of smaller monolithic constituent blocks consisting of a high-porosity nickel carrier with a cellular structure and an active palladium / rhodium catalytic layer. Some of the constituent blocks are coated with palladium, while others have a layer of rhodium, at palladium content 0.007-0.025 g per g of carrier and rhodium content 0.0015-0.03 g per g of carrier in the complex high-porosity block mass. The carrier has a surface porosity of 80-95 percent and a specific weight of 0.17-0.40 g/cm<3>.
