Abstract
1528896 Exhaust gas purification catalysts NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 31 May 1977 [2 June 1976] 22927/77 Heading B1E In the preparation of platinum group metal catalysts supported on a carrier of which at least the surface is of active alumina by impregnation the platinum group metal compound is contacted with a sulphur-containing compound reactive therewith either or both the compounds being in solution, the carrier is impregnated with the resultant solution and the impregnated carrier is heated at 300-600‹C in an atmosphere comprising more than 50 vol. % H 2 O, the contacting being completed before the completion of the impregnation. The catalysts can be used to oxidise hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide in I.C.E. exhaust gases even in the presence of SO 2 .
