Abstract

The cartridge comprises a cartridge case with a metal charge and grenade of fragmentary or any other type, supplied with a detonator. The perforated cartridge can be fired from automatic or hand sub-barrel, grenade launchers of different caliber. The cartridge case is of one-body type, of high-strength light material. In it, by means of a thick-wall partition with holes, the following are separated on the back: high pressure chamber with metal charged fitted in it, membrane and lead decopperated agent, and in the front, in its thin-wall cylindrical part - a low-pressure chamber with part of the body with the bottom of the grenade fitted in it. The metal charge can be composed of one or several brands of fine-grain black and/or smokeless powder in selected, quantity and ratio, depending on the ballistic of the weapon. As far as the amount of the force for firing the grenade from the launcher, is determined only by the low pressure chamber alone, the fragmentation grenade of the cartridge is made of a composite body with a leading strip, containing cylindrical steel housing with circular grooves machined along its external surface and longitudinal grooves along its internal surface, semi finished fragments, and a bottom of high-strength light material bottom, connected to the housing. This determines the geometry, the overall dimensions and the mass of the fragments spread during the explosion from the crushing of the housing and their useful mass is duly increased, as well as the zone of destruction and energy of their piercing action, and the fragments from the bottom, spread in the rear semi-sphere of the space around the grenade have several times reduced radius of destruction, and accordingly reduced risk in having a close battle operation or in case of any possible premature explosions during the firing. The structure of the perforated cartridge allows that its make, apart from fragmentation grenade to be also made with a grenade of braking action (without filling) and with grenades of other design and filling (smoke, tear gas type, and others) , with reduced cartridge mass, the grenades and the weapon with the ammunition belonging to it, as well reduced energy of the recoil during firing. 5 claims, 1 figure
