Abstract

The cable system with armoured cores is applied in particular in the manufacture of bicycles as a wire for the gear box. The cable core (10) consists of a cable (11) covered by a cable sheathing (12) of polyether-ether keton (PEEK) or a polymer mixture containing PEEK. The protection cable sheathing (100) consists of a supporting tube (1),fibres (2) wound around the tube, and external coating (4). Each fibre (2) is engaged by a coating (3) which preferably consists of polyether-ether keton (PEEK) or of polymer mixture including PEEK. The fibre (2) preferably consists of a mould with glass fibres built in it. Between the external coating (4) and fibres (2) a slippery layer (5) can also be fitted which preferably consists of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE). Optionally a flexible cylindrical intermediate layer (13) can be fitted between the cable core (10) and the external protection sheathing (100) in order to reduce the friction between them and improve the corrosion wear of core (10). 46 claims, 4 figures
