Abstract

The invention relates to an additive which is used as sizingagent in the preparation of paper cellulose for moulding. Itconsists of a two-phase suspension of expanded starch having from0.5 to 30 wt.% dry matter, expanded volume after boiling from 1.6to 100 ml/g and soluble substances after boiling from 0.5 to 50wt%. The composition is produced from starch suspension havingrelatively low concentration which is subjected to carefullycontrolled expansion conditions (temperature and pH), rangingdepending the type of the used starch. The dry matter of thesuspension can also range depending on the fact whether a batch ora periodic process is employed.17 claims
