Abstract

The (commercial) greenhouse comprises a number of parallel gutters (1) each supported by U-section upright posts horizontally spaced at 6m intervals. Half-way each spacing length, each gutter is reinforced via a downwardly extending 50 cm long vertical U-section part (2) of which the lower end is bolted to the ends of two metal strips (3). - The other end is bolted to the upper ends of the respective uprights. Near their upper ends, the uprights and the U-section part (2) have 30 cm long cross-piece secured to it. The ends of transverse members are bolted or welded to the respective ends of these cross-pieces.

Description accompanying the application for an invention
 EMI1.1
Thing patent in the name of De Wit Denis and concerning a NEW CHEAPER TIME GREENHOUSE CONSTRUCTION THAT, WITH LESS LABOR AND LESS MATERIALS, GIVES A STRONGER AND MORE TRANSPARENT STRUCTURE.

In the traditional greenhouse construction, to increase the working width, trusses are usually used to replace a row of posts. This requires a lot of labor and materials and, moreover, those large pieces are difficult to handle and they also take up a lot of light in the conservatory. To remedy this, this new system has now been invented, much simpler and with better results. It consists in having the gutters (fig. 1 nrl) serve as a truss.

For this purpose, instead of every 3 meters, only a 6-meter post, in U-profile, is placed and the intermediate gutter part is reinforced in the following way: in the middle, in iron of the same profile as the posts, an intermediate piece (fig 1 nr2) of more or less 50 cm long and at the bottom one fixes (by means of a bolt) (fig 2 nrl) on each side 2 slats of flat iron (fig 1 nr3) one on the inside and one from the outside. These are attached in the same way at the top of the posts (fig 3 nrl). The different rows of gutters are connected by sleepers. For this purpose, a U or flat iron is placed crosswise at the top against the posts and the supporting pieces

about 30 cm long in which the beams fit (fig 4 nrl).

This can be done by welding or in some other way. The beams are attached with at least one bolt on both sides. The hoods are therefore very easy to protect against lateral wind pressure.

In short, this concerns the invention of a new type of greenhouse construction in which the specially reinforced gutters themselves serve as trusses, so that with less work and materials, and therefore cheaper, a very sturdy greenhouse is obtained that has a large working width and allows more light to pass through. .
