<EMI ID=2.1>
Ensuite on
<EMI ID=3.1>

"Process for preparing a flexible and comfortable terrain, and terrain thus obtained" "Method for preparing a flexible and comfortable terrain, and terrain thus obtained"
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a flexible and comfortable terrain, in particular for a horse racing track, comprising general earthwork and leveling of the terrain and the establishment of a network of
drains, as well as the land obtained by placing
implementing this process.
The maintenance of sports grounds, in particular horse tracks, presents particular problems depending on the weather and the nature of the track. Grass or earth tracks in a temperate climate
and wet often tend to be impractical during rain or frost. Tracks, even well-drained, often offer great variation in the flexibility and comfort of the track depending on the dryness of the climate.
The object of the present invention is to resolve these drawbacks and thus to obtain a track which can be used at all times under perfectly constant conditions.
This problem is solved, according to the invention, by a method as described at the beginning, this method being characterized in that it comprises the laying over the entire drained surface of a first layer of textile material resistant to contamination , permeable to
water, not permeable to the granules of the upper layers and resistant to the mechanical stresses transmitted by them, spreading over the first layer
of textile material from a sub-foundation layer to
base of a material of natural and / or synthetic composition having a coarse granulation, the laying of a second layer of textile material resistant to contamination, permeable to water, not permeable to the granules of the upper layers and resistant to mechanical stresses transmitted by these, the spreading on the second layer of textile material of a draining layer based on a material of natural and / or synthetic composition having a fine granulation and
high water absorption capacity, spreading
on the draining layer of a finishing layer based on a material of natural and / or synthetic composition having a fine granulation, a large capacity for absorbing water and good mechanical resistance,
compaction by natural compaction or rolling of the ground, and the humidification of at least the finishing layer.
According to an advantageous form of the invention
the process includes spreading on the first layer
of textile material with a base-based base layer
coarsely ground volcanic rock,
it has a thickness of at least 20 cm after compaction, spreading on the second layer of textile material a draining layer based on finely ground volcanic rock, so that it has a thickness of at least 6 cm after compaction, and spreading on the draining layer a finishing layer based on a mixture
finely ground volcanic rock and washed sand, so that it is at least 6 cm thick, and
preferably 6 cm, after compaction.
The invention also relates to a flexible and comfortable terrain, in particular for a horse racing track, comprising a network of drains crossing a leveled and leveled area. According to the invention, this terrain comprises, above the drains, a first layer of textile material resistant to contamination, permeable to water, not permeable to the granules of solid material of the upper layers and resistant to the mechanical stresses transmitted by these layers, a sub-foundation layer, deposited above the first layer of textile material and based on a material of natural and / or synthetic composition, having a coarse granulation, a second layer of textile material, which covers the sub-foundation layer that resists contamination, is permeable to water and
not permeable to the granules of solid material of the upper layers and resists the mechanical stresses transmitted by these layers, a draining layer, disposed above the second layer of textile material and based on a material of natural and / or synthetic composition having a fine granulation and a large capacity for absorbing water, and a top layer, upper and based on a material of natural and / or synthetic composition having a fine granulation, a large capacity for absorbing water and good mechanical resistance, at least the top coat being moist if ied.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description given below without implied limitation and with reference to the attached drawings.
Figure 1 shows a cross-sectional view through a horse track according to the invention. FIG. 2 represents a view of detail A of FIG. 1. This view is enlarged in a nonportional manner for clarity of reading of the drawing.
In the figures, identical or similar elements are designated by the same references.
As is apparent from the appended figures, the ground 1, after earthwork and leveling, is crossed by a network of transverse 2 and longitudinal 3 drains, which lie in their respective trenches 4 and 5 and are connected to collectors 11.
On this drained surface is placed a first layer of textile material 6 resistant to contamination, permeable to water, not permeable to the granules of the layers which are above it and resistant to the mechanical stresses transmitted by them. The textile material used advantageously has the following properties:
tensile strength: approximately 940 to 960 N / 5 cm resistance to primed tear: approximately 215 to 240 N resistance to bursting: approximately 30 to 40 bars elongation at rupture: approximately 60 to 80%

One can for example use as textile material a nonwoven fabric based on continuous polyester filaments, which has undergone a needling treatment. As an example of a nonwoven fabric of this kind, having very favorable properties, we may cite that of the brand BIDIM U 44, manufactured by the company Rhône Poulenc.
This layer of textile material 6 must be absolutely uninterrupted over the entire surface of the ground. It has, in addition to its functions of filtering water and providing mechanical resistance to the ground, a function of separation between the various layers of the ground. It must therefore oppose an interpenetration of these. This explains why it cannot be destroyed either by mechanical stress, microbiological contamination or rotting. In
this purpose too, the strips of textile material unrolled in the field can be assembled, for example sewn together by means of a portable sewing machine, and this in order to prevent a rise of clay in the layers above the layer of textile material 6. Advantageously, the layer of textile material 6 also has drainage properties by allowing water to flow in its plane.
On the textile material layer 6 is then spread a sub-foundation layer 7 which is based
a material of natural and / or synthetic composition having a coarse granulation and a great capacity for absorbing water. In the case of the example illustrated, it is based on a volcanic rock roughly ground to a caliber between 15 mm and 50 mm. The thickness of this layer is provided so that after compaction of the ground it is at least 20 cm thick.
The specific weight, after compaction, will preferably be at least 1.285 t / m <3>, without taking account of losses. The volcanic rock has a coefficient of permeability preferably less than 6.5.10 cm / sec, and advantageously 5.84.10 cm / sec.
The sub-foundation layer 7 is then coated with a second layer of textile material 8. This advantageously has properties similar to that of the layer of textile material 6. The sub-foundation layer 7 is thus trapped between two identical separation layers 6 and 8, which isolate it from the solid material forming the underlying layer and the upper layers.
Above the second layer of textile material 8 is a draining layer 9 which is based on a material of natural and / or synthetic composition having a fine granulation and a great capacity for absorbing water. One can in particular advantageously provide a granulated volcanic rock, which has a granulation caliber of 0 to 5 mm, the content of particles less than 74 microns not being able to exceed 8%. The specific weight after compaction will be at least 1.735 t / m. The thickness of the draining layer 9 is provided so that after compaction it is at least
6 cm. The material of the draining layer has a coefficient of permeability preferably less than 3.0.10 cm / sec, and advantageously 2.05.10 cm / sec.
Finally above the draining layer 9 is provided a finishing layer 10 which, in addition to granulation and a large absorption capacity, must also have a certain mechanical resistance.
In the illustrated embodiment, a mixture of finely granulated volcanic rock and washed sand is provided in proportions of 25 to 75% of volcanic rock and 75 to 25% of washed sand. The caliber
granules of the mixture is between 0 and 3 mm. The washed sand of the mixture advantageously has a glauconie content of less than 5% of the dry matter, a particle content of less than 74 microns which does not exceed 3% and an organic matter content of less than 0.5%.
The thickness of the finishing layer is provided so that after compaction it is at least 6 cm and preferably 6 cm. If the layer is less than 6 cm there is a risk of mixing between the finishing layer 10 and the draining layer 9 during the passage of the horses. When it exceeds 6 cm, the track becomes increasingly heavy.
The finely granulated volcanic rock that ccu-
<EMI ID = 2.1>
preferably less than 3.0.10 cm / sec ,,, and advantageously 2.05.10 cm / sec.
The track is then moistened, preferably so that the water moistens the entire thickness of the track. It is preferable that the moisture content of the draining and finishing layers 9 be greater than
10%.
The wet track is then compacted, preferably by rolling, or by natural compaction.
To obtain a track of constant flexibility and comfort, it is also possible to provide, just before each use of the track, a loosening of the surface of the track, for example with a roller with a scraper frame. This device should be adjusted so that the scraper frame does not penetrate more than 2 cm deep into the finishing layer. Then we
<EMI ID = 3.1>
the humidified track is then cylindrical.
It should be understood that the present invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described above and that many modifications can be made thereto, without departing from the scope of this patent.
The layers of textile material may in particular be based on a material other than that described and, in place of the crushed volcanic rock or the mixture
of this one with sand, one can also envisage other materials provided that these offer the same properties.
One can in particular provide, as layer of sub-foundation, a layer of stones of a gauge
from 20 to 40 mm.
