<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

"Tennis rocket stringing, method of applying such stringing and component used herein" as FIRST IMPROVEMENT PATENT

"Tennis rocket stringing, method of fitting such stringing, and component used herein".
This invention relates to improvements to the Belgian basic patent No. 897,829 filed in the name of the applicant on September 27, 1983.
Although the stringing described in the main patent and the method of applying such stringing have been very effective, the Applicant has found it desirable in certain cases that the knots with which the strings or strings of string sections are provided at their free ends be secured in the to tighten the rocket frame very tightly, such that the tension which was brought into the string or series of string parts, after releasing the tensioning device, remains virtually the same, in other words that the last knot formed before the tensioning device of the relevant string or string of string sections has been removed, tightened enough so that tension is not reduced by tightening the knot.
For this purpose, the stringing according to the invention mainly consists in that at least at the location of the free end of a string or series of string sections, in the rocket frame, a passage is provided through which the free end of the string, after applying the last button, can be passed through.
With the insight to better demonstrate the features of the invention hereinafter, as an example, it is without limitation

character, a preferred embodiment described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: figure 16 is a view corresponding to figure 8 from the aforementioned main patent, but adapted to the improvements according to the invention; Figure 17 is a view similar to Figure 16, but for a further phase of the method according to the current improvements; figure 18 is a view according to arrow F18 in figure 17.
Where in figure 8 according to the main patent the free end of the string 2 must be tightened by means of a tool, e.g. pliers or the like, to tighten the knot around the knot block 3, before the clamps 16-17 of a stringing device are unloaded, according to the current improvements, in certain places, and possibly next to each passage 14 for the vertical flange 5 of a button block 3, a passage 24 provided for the free end of a string 2.
This ensures that, after the knot has been made, in the same manner as is the case in the main patent, the tension in the string or string of string sections is maintained by the presence of clamps 16 and 17, and the free end of a string 2 or series of string sections is gripped by the tensioning device 15 known per se, which was previously used to bring about the desired tension in the actual string 2 or series of string sections, so that the knot is tightened, such that after loosening the tensioning device 15 and releasing the clamps 16-17, the initial tension in the string 2 or series of string sections is maintained.
Then the free end of the string 2 will be cut against the inner wall of the missile frame.
Although initially it is only necessary to provide a passage 24 at the end of one
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
string 2 or series of string sections, such a passage 24 can be provided at the beginning of the string 2 or string sections, on the one hand, and at the end of the string 2 or series of string sections, in order thus also to form the beginning of the first knot passing the string through such a passage 24 to obtain that the protruding portion of the beginning of the string 2 can also be cut against the inner edge of the missile frame and thus obtain a very clean outer finish of all the knots formed.
It is clear that a string is thus obtained in which each string 2 or string parts can be accurately provided with a desired tension and this tension remains the same during tensioning as after the tensioning tools have been removed.
The present invention is of course not limited to the exemplary embodiment shown in the accompanying drawings.
