ayant pour objet : Shampooing
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 11>

The present invention relates to shampoos for treating or conditioning the hair and preparations for washing the body.
After washing with shampoo preparations for the shower and the bath based on synthetic anionic surfactants, the hair is often in an unsatisfactory cosmetic state. When wet, disentangling is difficult and time consuming. After drying, washed hair tends to develop a static charge, resulting in the well-known "straightening" of recently washed hair. In addition, recently washed hair often looks dull. For these reasons, it is known that conditioning preparations can be applied to the hair after washing or shampooing. The preparations in question are mostly rinsing solutions or cream lotions containing cationic surfactants.
It is also known that certain substances can be added to ordinary shampoos to obtain a certain conditioning effect when the hair is washed. Substances of the type in question include, for example, proteins or degradation products of water-soluble proteins, polycationic polymers, for example amino-polycarbamide resins of the type described in DE-OS NO 21 50 899, polycationic cellulose derivatives of the type described in United States patent No. 3,816,616 or polycationic guar gum derivatives of the type described in United States patent? 4,292,212.
Many other water-soluble polymers containing cationic or quaternary ammonium groups have been proposed for this purpose.
A disadvantage common to all known additives for conditioning the hair lies in their action which is at least partially reduced when they are used in preparations for washing the hair with active anions. Products with particularly powerful action often have a
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
excessive adsorption by the hair and, consequently, reduce the elasticity, the body and the hold of the dried hair.
Consequently, the object of the present invention is to provide a shampoo formulation based on the well-known anionic washing substances which, thanks to the presence of suitable additives which condition the hair, allows the latter to be easily disentangled when 'they are wet and which also leaves hair dry with satisfactory cosmetic properties, including in particular elasticity, body, shine and hold.
It has now been discovered that the hair treatment properties of a shampoo based on anionic washing substances can be improved particularly effectively by adding to the shampoo a combination of a polycationic derivative of guar gum, a cationic polycondensation product. curable, a hydrophilic fatty acid ester and a water-soluble polyvinylpyrrolidone.
Consequently, the present invention relates to a hair conditioning shampoo based on an aqueous solution of anionic washing substances and of conventional agents giving hold, which is characterized in that it contains 0.1 to 4% by weight. weight of 3- (trimethylamino) -2-hydro-xypropyl-guar chloride, 0.5 to 5% by weight of a readily water-soluble hardenable polycondensation product of water-soluble polyamines containing reactive amino groups and radicals polyalkylene oxide and epichlorohydrin or compounds containing more than one epoxide group and / or one halohydrin group in the molecule,

0.1 to 1% by weight of a polyvinyl-pyrrolidone having an average molecular weight of at least 10,000.
Is 3- (trimethylamino) -2-hydroxypropyl-guar chloride a cationic guar derivative known from the United States patent? 3,589,978. The products described therein contain as base unit two mannose units attached by a glycosidic bond and a galactose unit attached to one of the hydroxyl groups of the mannose units. On average, each hexose nucleus carries three free hydroxyl groups. These free hydroxyl groups are reacted with reactive quaternary ammonium compounds to give the cationic polymers.
The cationic polymer used in the shampoo according to the invention is commercially available under the name "Cosmedia (R) -Guar C 261".
Easily water-soluble curable polycondensation products of water-soluble polyamines containing reactive amino groups and polyalkylene oxide radicals and epichlorohydrin or compounds containing more than one epoxide and / or halohydrin group in the molecule are known from document DE-PS No 2 363 871.
Among the cationic polycondensation products described, the polycondensate produced as product F of the abovementioned patent is particularly suitable for use in the production of hair conditioning shampoos according to the invention. A product of this type is commercially available, for example under the name of Polyquart H (registered trademark).
The esterification products of the adducts of ethylene oxide and glycerol and from 4 to 20 moles of ethylene oxide with 1 to 2 moles of a C8-C18 fatty acid are known from after the DE-AS document? The fatty alcohol sulfate preferably contains an alcohol unit having about 10 to 14 carbon atoms, preferably 12 to 14 carbon atoms. The ratio of the total amount of anionic surfactants present to the mixture of essential conditioning agents can vary between about 10: 1 and 1: 1, preferably between 2.5: 1 and 1.5: 1.
In addition, the hair conditioning shampoos according to the invention may contain conventional additives and holding agents, such as, for example, thickeners of the alkylolamide type of C "C o fatty acids, opacifiers, for example. example of the ethylene glycol distearate type, pH stabilizers, such as phosphates or citrates of alkali metal or ammonium, preservatives such as formaldehyde or the esters of p-hydroxybenzoic acid in dyes, perfumes and known substances with cosmetic action on the hair, for example anti-freeze agents
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
circular or sebostatic.
Hair conditioning shampoos having the composition according to the invention are distinguished by a surprisingly marked improvement in the conditioning properties of hair washed with such shampoos. For example, the so-called wet disentangling ability of hair conditioning shampoos according to the invention is considerably improved compared to shampoos containing only one of the conditioning components, for example the Cosmedia Guar (R) C 261. This is all the more surprising since the other essential ingredients have little or no influence on the detangling ability in the wet state.
Similar surprising synergistic effects can be observed when looking for parameters of shine, feel and antistatic properties, which is called "conditioning effect".
Also the feel (elasticity) and the shine of washed hair are improved by the shampoos according to the invention to a higher degree than with conventional shampoos containing, for example only one of the necessary components according to the invention. Finally, the tendency of the hair to develop an electrostatic charge after drying is considerably reduced by using the conditioning shampoo according to the invention. Hair is less likely to "stand up", it can be disentangled more easily and keeps its shape for longer periods of time.
The cosmetic effects on the hair obtained with a hair conditioning shampoo according to the invention are indicated in the examples which follow by comparison with conventional shampoos.

of similar shampoos not containing (No. 10) or containing only part (NO 4 to 9) of the necessary components of the shampoos according to the invention.
The shampoo formulations tested for their performance are shown in Table 1.
EXAMPLE 1 Determination of the suitability for disentangling in the wet state (laboratory test)
The suitability for disentangling in the wet state is determined by measuring the resistance to the passage of the comb, that is to say the force necessary to pass a comb through a lock of hair. A modified tensile strength tester (type 1402 manufactured by the Zwick Company of Einsingen über Ulm / Danube) is used. The test device is described in "Riechstoffe, Aromen, Kosmetika NO 12/1977, page 325, columns 2 and 3.
Standardized locks of hair having been damaged beforehand by bleaching and perming under determined conditions are used. They are washed with the shampoos indicated in Table 1 in lukewarm water and rinsed with clear water.
In order to minimize errors, the disentangling resistance is determined 15 times, each time with the shampoos to be tested and the average values are calculated.
The average untangling resistance values are evaluated as a percentage of the control value. The value of the control is determined after shampooing with an aqueous solution holding 10% in. weight of sodium laury1-etherdiethenoxy-sulfate and rinsing with clear water.

EXAMPLE 2 Test for determining the cosmetic properties on the hair (salon test)
The test and the evaluation of the cosmetic properties on the hair are carried out on 10 people tested whose quality of the hair varies from one person to another, using the test known as "by half". The test is conducted by an experienced hairdresser. The halftone test is used for the comparative test of two hair treatment preparations or a hair treatment preparation and a reference preparation on persons. In these tests, the shampoo? 1 according to the invention is used as a reference. The comparative notes given in Table 2 are a measure of the difference between shampoos NO 4 to 10 and shampoo No 1.
Procedure and evaluation
The hair of the persons subjected to the test is wet and divided by the middle. The reference shampoo is applied to the left half of the head of 5 people and the comparative shampoo to the right half in equal amounts of 5 g in each case (prewash). In the case of the other 5 people, the other half of the head is. treated with the same product. Apply the shampoo on the two halves in the same way and rinse with water. For the main wash, shampoos are applied once again to the same half of the head in amounts of 2.5 g, rubbed to obtain a foam and rinsed thoroughly with clean water.
During and after washing, the criteria indicated in Table 2 below are estimated separately by the hairdresser for each of the two sides. The estimate is given by assigning marks (1 = excellent, 2 = good, 3 = average, 4 = poor). From the scores assigned for the 10 people tested, the average values for the same product are calculated:
<Desc / Clms Page number 11>
The average values for the reference product are subtracted from the average values for the comparison product.
The difference in pairs thus obtained in the average of the values of the estimates of 10 persons is indicated in Table 2 below.
Result: The comparative shampoos are all considered to be less good as regards their cosmetic properties on the hair than the reference shampoo (shampoo NO 1) according to the invention.
