<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=4.1>
<EMI ID=7.1>
<EMI ID=9.1>

<EMI ID=13.1>

<EMI ID=18.1>
<EMI ID=21.1>
<EMI ID=22.1>
<EMI ID=23.1>

<EMI ID=25.1>
<EMI ID=26.1>

<EMI ID=28.1>

<EMI ID=35.1>

<EMI ID=41.1>
<EMI ID=42.1>
Au niveau du contact 77 du rotor avec l'enveloppe sera prévu un collecteur d'huile branché sur le collecteur 73 et un canal qui alimenteront les segments 23;

<EMI ID=61.1>
Internal combustion rotary engine
The present invention relates to a rotary internal combustion engine. It relates more specifically to an engine comprising an envelope of which
the internal wall delimits a cavity furnished with a first lumen, a non-rotating shaft integral with the aforementioned envelope, arranged in the latter and provided with a second lumen, as well as a rotor in the form of a substantially cylindrical crown, mounted in the
aforementioned envelope cavity around the tree
cited above.
Wankel type internal combustion rotary engines are known, comprising a rotary piston
whose general shape of the section is that of an equilateral triangle with slightly curved sides and which has a central recess, provided with gear teeth, and a stator whose internal shape is epitrocholdal and in which a motor shaft extends having teeth over its entire lateral surface forming a first pinion meshing with the teeth
with the rotary piston in the recess
central above, the number of teeth with which
the motor shaft and the rotary piston being exactly
in the ratio 2 to 3.
The rotary piston rotates eccentrically around
<EMI ID = 1.1>
sweep the interior wall of the stator while remaining pressed against the latter so as to form three chambers of variable volume.
The rotary piston transmits the motor movement to the motor shaft via the gear system
The rotary piston-stator assembly behaves like a conventional four-stroke, but three-cylinder engine.
Unlike conventional internal combustion engines, the Wankel engine has no alternating moving parts. It does not require any connecting rod-crank-crankshaft system to transmit engine movement. It is characterized by ease of balancing and by high rotational speeds without significant vibrations.
This engine has drawbacks, however.
The main among them is the difficulty of obtaining a perfect seal of the engine chambers and a higher consumption of oil. The fairly serious constraints to which the motor shaft is subjected, rotating at a speed significantly higher than the rotary piston oblige the manufacturer to use special alloys to produce this motor. In addition, the essential addition of a reduction gear partially cancels the weight and size advantage of the Wankel motor compared to a conventional motor. The ignition components, unique for the three cylinders, are subjected to severe working conditions. Special candles must be used.
The present invention aims to remedy the drawbacks of the aforementioned engine while safeguarding its advantages and it relates to. a rotary internal combustion engine, running on diesel

veloppe having an internal wall delimiting a cavity furnished with a first lumen, a non-rotating shaft disposed inside the envelope integral with it and having a second lumen, as well as a rotor in the shape of a substantially cylindrical crown , arranged in the cavity of, the above envelope around
of the aforementioned shaft, this engine being essentially
<EMI ID = 3.1> one serving for the exhaust of gases, combustion and the other for admitting the mixture, of air and possibly of fuel, the rotor having in substantially radial direction, at least one slot each giving passage to a movable pallet whose ends are supported: permanently on the one hand on the inner wall of the envelope and on the other hand, on the shaft,
so as to divide each of the two above-mentioned compartments into two chambers and thus to form four chambers
<EMI ID = 4.1>
intake, compression, combustion and exhaust, while this or these paddles transmit the engine force to the rotor.
According to the invention, the rotor is mounted
<EMI ID = 5.1> The first light then serves as an exhaust light allowing the evacuation of the combustion gases and the second light serves as an admission light for the mixture of air and possibly fuel.
A spark plug and a fuel injector are optionally mounted in the envelope in the vicinity of the line of tangency of this envelope and the rotary piston, but on the side opposite to that where is provided
the exhaust light.
The fresh air and possibly fuel intake light and the exhaust gas exhaust light are in communication with the atmosphere.
According to a feature of the invention, the transfer of the mixture of air and possibly of fuel from the compression chamber to the explosion chamber takes place through a channel which opens into
<EMI ID = 6.1> In addition, the transfer channel arranged to connect the two above-mentioned compartments is advantageously equipped, at the level of the interior compartment with a non-return valve which prevents the return of the compressed gases in the interior compartment after their passage in this transfer channel.
The transfer channel will be provided at the level of. external compartment, i.e. a valve which will be mechanically controlled immediately after passing through the
<EMI ID = 7.1>
rotor, or a sprinkler.
According to a feature of the invention, the envelope is provided with sealing means along its line of tangency with the rotor, while the non-rotating shaft is provided with sealing means along its line of tangency with the rotor.
The substantially cylindrical shape of the cavity
<EMI ID = 8.1> sealing intended to isolate one from the other the two chambers of each compartment.
In a second embodiment, the non-rotating shaft is cylindrical and coaxial with the also cylindrical cavity delimited by the above-mentioned envelope. The pallet is then advantageously fixed on two cylindrical sleeves, radially to these. These sleeves bear, on the one hand, on the internal wall of the casing and on the other hand, on the external wall of the non-rotating shaft, each by means of a bearing, so as to be able to rotate freely inside the cavity around the above-mentioned shaft, the intake and exhaust ports being provided in the walls: at the end of the aforementioned cavity.
The engine cooling is advantageously carried out by an oil circulation. For this purpose, the rotary piston as well as possibly the shaft and the casing comprise lubrication conduits and
cooling connected to a circulation pump mounted in the cavity of the rotor in a compartment contiguous to the interior compartment where the intake and compression cycles take place.
The lubrication of the engine according to the invention can also be carried out as in a conventional two-stroke engine, by mixing oil with fuel, more especially with petrol.
Thanks to the invention, it is possible to produce a motor which is silent and which can rotate at high speeds because this motor does not comprise any part in alternating movement except for the pallet which slides in a radial slot of the rotor and possibly of the valve.
<EMI ID = 9.1>
this pallet in fact has only a very low inertia, so that the engine according to the invention can reach higher rotational speeds than those of conventional reciprocating internal combustion engines.
At equal power, the engine will also be significantly more compact than a conventional engine.
The major advantage of the engine according to the invention lies in the fact that the engine time, like the other times, moreover, is practically continuous.
They are only interrupted for a short time during the passage of the pallet at the point of contact of the rotor with the casing and provide a more regular engine torque.
Other features and details of the invention will emerge from the following detailed description and

cavity 3 substantially cylindrical, closed but provided with a light 4 and traversed along its longitudinal axis by a non-rotating shaft 5, which is integral with it.
In this cavity 3 of the casing 1, around the shaft 5, is mounted a rotor 6, constituted by a cylindrical crown which can rotate around its axis <EMI ID = 14.1>
indicated by arrow X. This rotor is designed and arranged so that its internal surface 7 is
tangent to the tree along the line RR * and its external surface 8 being tangent to the internal surface 2 of the envelope along the line TT '. The rotor 6 forms a first compartment between its internal surface 7 and the external wall of the shaft 5. It forms a second compartment between its external surface 8 and the internal surface 2 of the envelope. These two compartments 9 and 10 each have a scalloped shape, inverted with respect to each other. The second compartment 9 completely surrounds the first compartment 10.
The ends of each of the compartments 9 and 10 constitute the lines of tangency R, R 'and T, T' of the rotor 6 with the casing 1 on the one hand and of the rotor 6 with the shaft 5 on the other hand.
The rotor 6 has in a substantially radial direction a slot 11 in which slides freely.

which will constantly vary during the rotation of the piston. Bearings not shown, possibly smells

The non-rotating central shaft 5 integral with the casing 1 is pierced with a duct 17 serving as an inlet light for a mixture of fresh air and possibly
fuel in the suction chamber.

this one; this light opens into the evacuation chamber 16.
A spark plug 18 and possibly a fuel injector 19 have been mounted in the envelope 1 in the vicinity
of the aforementioned tangency line of the rotor 6 with the envelope 1, but on the side opposite to that on which is formed
the exhaust light 4.
At least one transfer channel 20 connects the chamber
compression 14 to the combustion chamber 15. Each of these peripheral channels 20 is provided -in
<EMI ID = 18.1>
<EMI ID = 19.1> of the rotor 6 and on the other hand on the external surface 8 of the rotor 6 and this at the level of the compression chamber 14 and the explosion chamber respectively
15. The ends of these channels 20 are provided with valves, one of which consists for example of a calibrated valve 21 and the other of a valve 22 (FIG. 2) controlled mechanically by contact with the casing at the level of the tangent line TT 'of the rotor with the envelope 1.
Since the pallet 12, which slides in the radial slot 11 of the rotor 6 and which must rest simultaneously on the external surface of the shaft 5
and on the internal surface 2 of the casing 1, both offset from the rotor 6, is of fixed length, that is to say invariable, it will be necessary to provide for the casing 1 a profile whose geometry
deviates slightly from the perfect cylinder.
This pallet 12 does not indeed move along the radius of the generating circumference
of envelope 1,
Such a configuration of the envelope 1 which
<EMI ID = 20.1> burned are continuously in communication with the atmosphere possibly via, the carburetor for the intake light 17.
The casing 1 and the shaft 5 are each provided with a sealing segment 23 along their line of tangency R, R ', and T, T' with the rotor 6.
The aforementioned casing 1 is lined on the outside with cooling fins 24.
Figure 4,. Shows in perspective a schematic cross section at the level of the chambers of the version of the engine which has just been described.
In rooms 13 and 14 of the first compartment
10 aforementioned, are performed in turn the suction of the mixture of fresh air and optionally fuel by an intake port 17 and the compression of said mixture. In the chambers 15 and 16 of the second compartment 9, the expansion and combustion of the mixture and the evacuation of the exhaust gases take place.
FIGS. 5 to 9 schematically show the operations necessary for the operation of the engine according to the invention which are carried out completely.
<EMI ID = 21.1>
At this instant, the pallet 12 is almost entirely in the external compartment 9, excluding the part which remains in contact with the rotor 6.
We assume that the engine is running.
<EMI ID = 22.1>
hot gases which, by relaxing during their combustion, exert a strong thrust on the pallet
12 above.
The evacuation chamber 16 is on the other hand filled with burnt gases at a pressure slightly higher than atmospheric pressure. The interior compartment contains air possibly enriched with fuel, at atmospheric pressure, while the transfer chamber constituted by the transfer channel 20 formed in the crown of the rotor 6 and closed by two valves 21 and 22, contains l air possibly enriched with fuel under high pressure.
Under the pressure of the combustion gases enclosed in the expansion chamber 15, the pallet 12 moves
while resting on the casing 2 and the shaft 5 and drives the rotor 6 in the dextrorotatory direction. As it moves, this pallet 12 creates an intake chamber
13 which gradually expands and fills with air possibly enriched with fuel and supplied by the intake port 17, formed in the non-rotating shaft
<EMI ID = 23.1>
In its movement, the pallet 12 reduces the
volume of the compression chamber 14 located in front of it where it compresses and expels the air which is therein. Similarly, the pallet 12 reduces the volume of the evacuation chamber 16 and
forces the burnt gases to escape to the outside
via the exhaust light 4. Said phases of the cycle continue during the first 180 degrees
of rotation of the rotor 6. When the pallet 12 reaches the line of tangency TT 'aforesaid, the evacuation chamber
-tion 16 fades completely. The exhaust phase is complete, all the combustion gases having been discharged into the atmosphere through the exhaust port 4. At this time, the combustion chamber 15 is put into communication with the exhaust port 4.
The rotor 6, which is no longer driven by the pallet
12 is nevertheless driven further by its inertia. As soon as it has exceeded the line of tangency TT ', the pallet 12 forms a new combustion chamber 15 which gradually expands. Part of the air stored under pressure in the transfer channel 20, rushes into the chamber 15 as soon as it arises. This transfer is carried out by the valve 22 which isolates the transfer channel 20 at the level of the external compartment 9, this valve opening automatically in contact with the internal wall of the envelope as soon as the pallet 12 exceeds the line
of tangency TT '. The duration of this transfer corresponds
at an angle of rotation of the rotor 6 of a few degrees.
As soon as this angle has been traversed, the aforementioned valve 22 closes. During its closing and even slight-

the line of tangency TT ′, on the side opposite that of the exhaust port 4, and connected to an injection pump not shown, sends fuel into the chamber 15.
the fuel therefore mixes with the air. The mixture ignites under the influence of the air temperature due to its compression and its passage through the transfer chamber. Firing is possible-
<EMI ID = 25.1>
combustion causes the formation of hot gases under very high pressure. These gases push
on the part of the pallet 12 which delimits the new combustion chamber 15 and thus drives the rotor 6 which directly transmits the engine movement without the intermediary of a rod-crank system, to the gearbox and to the drive wheels, if is the engine of a vehicle.
During the expansion of the gases, the pallet pushes the gases contained in the
the second part of the external compartment 16, in this case the new exhaust chamber. These gases are, of course, those which enabled the preceding relaxation. The admission and the compression continue to take place simultaneously in the chambers 13 and 14 of the interior compartment 10.
When the pallet 12 approaches the line of tangency RR ′, therefore after a complete rotation of the rotor, the volume of the compression chamber 14 is greatly reduced and the pressure increases considerably in this chamber. It becomes such that it allows the automatic opening of the valve 21 which thus discovers the inlet of the transfer channel 20. The compressed air will therefore be injected into this channel.

that she owned at the time. When the pallet crosses the line of tangency RR ', the valve 21 comes into contact with the fresh air contained in the an-

close automatically. From this moment, we find the position at the initial time. As the relaxation continues, the paddle continues its movement, pushes back and compresses the air which is housed in the new compression chamber 14, while it creates a new intake chamber 13.
The four intake, compression, explosion and exhaust cycles will then continue and repeat as described above.
To seal the rotor 6 along the
<EMI ID = 28.1>
the shaft 5 and the casing 1, two fixed segments 23 are provided which will be placed on the external surface of the shaft 5 and on the internal surface of the casing 1, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 10.
The first segment 23 separates the compression chamber 14 from the intake chamber 13, while the second segment separates the explosion chamber 15 from the exhaust chamber 16. These segments are supported on the rotor by means of springs 25 .
To prevent the segments 101 placed at each of the ends of the pallet from suddenly coming into contact with these segments 23, two zones 27 and 28 with a slight slope will be provided on the latter. La.surface attack 27 of the segment 23 is pierced with a small channel 29 of oil connected to the first part 30 of the oil box 31 itself connected with the discharge of a centrifugal pump shown in the FIG. 15, thanks to a lubrication pipe 32. The oil film thus created is driven by the rotor surface 8.and passes into the upper cavity 33 of the segment where it is largely collected by a drain 34 connected to the second part 35 of the oil box which is itself connected to the suction of the centrifugal pump via a grease pipe 36,
<EMI ID = 29.1> contact surface and no longer just a contact line at TT 'and RR'. Figure 11 shows and exaggerates the shape of the tree and the envelope in this arrangement.
To seal the pallet 12 at the level of the contact of each end of the latter with the internal wall 2 of the casing 1 on the one hand and the external surface of the non-rotating shaft 5 on the other hand, the pallet 12 is provided at each of its aforesaid ends with pads 37, provided with segments 100 and 101.
In the device shown in Figure 12, we see a detail of a cross section of the motor showing the upper end of the pallet 12 in its. rotor housing 11.

and this, thanks to a spring leaf 40, playing the role of return spring disposed between the cylindrical head 38 and the body of the. palette 12 itself
and constituting the only link between them. At its contact with the rotor slot 11, the pallet is in communication with the discharge and the aspiration of the. oil pump 41 through rotor channels
102 and 103. These rotor channels open on either side of the rotor slot 11 in wide notches 105 and 104. At the side walls of the pallet 12 and in the body of the latter are
<EMI ID = 34.1>
These channels stop at the level of the cylindrical head 38 where they are put in relation respectively with on the one hand a small channel 109 emerging at the front of the attack segment 101 and on the other hand a second channel 110 opening between the two segments
100 and 101.
The transfer of oil between the notches
<EMI ID = 35.1>
<EMI ID = 36.1> A bypass channel 111 connecting the 2 channels 106 and 107 will allow sufficient flow in the latter only to ensure good cooling of the pallet. The oil coming from the discharge of the pump 41 will pass into the channel 107 through the valves 108; part of it will go to aspiration
of pump 41 through channels 111 and 106 and
valves 108, while a second part of this oil will be delivered to the front of the attack segment 101 through the channel 109. This oil will be recovered between the attack segment 101 and the scraper segment 100 through the channel 110 which will allow it to be in contact with the suction of the pump 41, thanks to the channel 106.
Segments 112 seal between the chambers and the notches 104 and 105.
All along the rotor slot, these notches will alternate with the raceways 47 intended to transmit the engine force to the rotor while ensuring an easy movement. A cross section

<EMI ID = 39.1> thanks to a rocking roller 56 fixed on the rotor. The latter consists of a small elongated plate fixed to the rotor by means of a longitudinal ball 58, this system forming a kind of rocker.
An arm of this "rocker" acts as
<EMI ID = 40.1>
the explosion chamber remains applied by means of a return spring 57 to the external orifice of the transfer chamber 20. The other arm will come out slightly from the circumference 8 delimiting the rotor body; the latter will act as a roller 56 and will control the opening of the valve 22 when it comes into contact with the casing 2 at
the line of rotor-envelope tangency TT '. It is obvious that this arrangement requires providing sufficient housing to allow the rotational movement around the ball joint of the roller-valve assembly.
The small return spring 57 will allow the
. valve 22 to return to the closed position as soon as the contact between the roller 56 and the casing 2 at the line TT 'has disappeared.
As shown in FIG. 14, the rotor can be mounted on the casing 1 by two bearings 60 and 61 placed on each side of the external compartment 9.
Likewise, two bearings 62 and 63 disposed at each end of the interior compartment 10 will fix the rotor to the shaft. These bearings will be fixed on the rotor and the envelope on the one hand and on the rotor and the shaft on the other hand, by shrinking. While ensuring free rotation of the rotor, they will also serve as a side wall to the chambers.
The bearing 62 will serve as a wall between the interior compartment and the oil pump which will be described later; a bearing 64 placed at the end of the rotor will avoid any friction of the base of the latter on
<EMI ID = 41.1>
Finally, in order to prevent any longitudinal displacement, a bearing 65 will be wedged on the rotor and the casing and held in place by a cover 66 and the screws
tightening 48:
The first compartment 10 may, by construction, have a volume smaller than that of the second compartment 9. The ratio of the intake volume and
compression to the expansion volume can therefore be judiciously chosen to better exhaust the energy of the gases. By choosing the ratio of the volume of the first compartment 10 to that of the second compartment 9 less than the unit, the power of the motor is reduced but it is given increased efficiency, which makes it possible to reduce consumption for a given power.
By choosing on the other hand a volume ratio greater than one, one obtains a supercharged engine, having a high power for a reduced volume.
In fact, the air admitted by the light 17 remains in the engine at least for four complete turns. The power supplied by this motor is the same as that of a motor having four times the displacement of the interior chamber, assuming that the exterior chamber has an identical volume.
The rotor is internally cooled by the mixture of air and possibly fuel supplied
by the admission light.
The transfer channel 20, in which the pressurized gases are stored, also provides a certain cooling because it transmits part of the calories released by the explosion to the pressurized gases which it contains, which contributes to further improving engine performance.
Guided by channels 74, a forced circulation of oil in the crown of the rotor 6, the pallet 12
and the casing 1 effectively provides additional cooling.
The centrifugal pump. 41 along a cross section XV-XV made in Figure 14, shown in Figure 15 will ensure the circulation of the cooling fluid.
This pump will be located inside the rotor on the side of the power take-off 67 and will be separated from the interior compartment 10 by the non-rotating shaft 5
and the bearing 62 as shown in FIGS. 14 and 15.
In the cylindrical cavity released inside the rotor for the pump 41, the non-rotating shaft 5 will be extended by a cylindrical protrusion 68 whose axis will be that of the rotor, this protrusion will stop at the base 69 of this cavity.
In this cavity, we will therefore have a fixed core 68 placed inside a movable cylinder made up of a part of the rotor. Between the fixed core 68 and the internal wall of the rotor is placed an impeller 70. This is hooped on the rotor and will therefore be driven by the latter. The pump will be sucked through the fixed core 68 in which an axial manifold 71 and radial channels 72 will be drilled.
<EMI ID = 42.1>
with blades 70 and pushed back by centrifugal force towards the internal wall of the rotor where it will be recovered thanks to a collector 73.
Longitudinal channels 74 hollowed out in the rotor body and connected to the manifold 73 allow
circulation of the coolant. The latter, after having cooled the rotor is directed
towards the blades 75 of a fan secured to the rotor and placed on the latter at the level of the PTO and outside the casing. The cooling fluid, which will be oil, is then directed towards the suction of the pump by a manifold 76 which allows its: *, transfer into the axial manifold 71 of the core 68 at the level of the base 69.
The fan, while cooling the oil which circulates in its blades, 'will cool the envelope by directing towards the fins thereof the air flow which it sucks.
At the contact 77 of the rotor with the casing, an oil collector connected to the collector 73 and a channel will be provided which will supply the segments 23;
this channel crosses the lower part of the casing, supplying the lower segment 23, passes through its base and going up into the shaft, feeds the upper segment 23. Similarly a channel connected to the suction 71 crosses the shaft 5, collecting the oil from the upper segment 23, passes through the base of the envelope, then goes towards the collector
resumption 36 of the lower segment 23.
The flows to be ensured in the sealing segments being very low, the pressure drops in these two channels will be negligible. In order not to overload the

A second cylindrical sleeve 44 of a smaller diameter is mounted coaxially outside of the non-rotating shaft 5 on which it is supported by a

freely around this shaft 5. The pallet 12 is fixed to the two aforesaid sleeves 43 and 44 radially with respect to one and to the other. Instead of having a radial and fixed slot 11 on the rotor 6, this will be provided in a movable part 45 of the rotor. This movable part will be a part of the rotor itself which will have been separated from the latter by machining therein, two circumferential slots whose axis
will be the axis of oscillation of the movable part 45 and will obviously be parallel to the longitudinal axis of the rotor.
This part 45 can therefore execute a rotational movement around its axis when the pallet 12 will request this movement.
The intake and exhaust ports 17 and 4 will be located in the end walls of the casing 1 as shown in FIG. 19.

end walls of the enclosure through a channel
92 dug into the base of the envelope.
A single manifold 76 directs the flow from the propeller blades to the suction of the pump.
The third embodiment, presented to <EMI ID = 51.1> essentially distinguishes by the way the gases pass from the compression chamber to the explosion chamber. The transfer channel is formed directly in the pallet 12. The calibrated non-return valve 21 will be provided at the end of this channel which is in contact with the compression chamber 14. The transfer valve 22 sera.montée à

<EMI ID = 54.1> Its movement will be controlled by the contact of the roller 78 with the boss 80 located on the internal wall 2 of the casing 1 at the line of
tangency TT '.
The intake and exhaust are through lights 17 and 4 as already described above. The intake duct 17 however opens into a gap 81 comprised between the non-rotating shaft 5 and the rotating sleeve 44 in which a

Likewise, the gases burned after passing through a first port 84 located on the sleeve 43, pass through the gap 82 between the sleeve 43 and the casing 1 to escape through the port 4.
The dynamic behavior of the possibly fueled air column brought into the intake chamber 13 offers some advantages. This column of air does not stop any more, when the pallet 12

continues by its inertia to fill the intake chamber 13. The sleeves will naturally

The cooling is done in a similar way to that of the second version. A first flow passes through the rotor 6, while a second flow is directed between, the shaft 5 and the small sleeve 44, the latter avoids the middle part 81 thanks to a channel 88 hollowed out in the tree. The two flows meet at the end of the envelope and are then injected between the large sleeve 43 and the envelope 1; they also avoid the middle part 82 by the channel 89 hollowed out in the envelope, then join the blades of the propeller; the pallet is no longer cooled except by the gases which
transit there.

on its internal and external surface.
The fourth embodiment, by far the most interesting, differs from the second and from the third by the fact that the cylindrical shaft 5 is off-center with respect to the casing 1. FIG. 22. Presents a cross section of this production. The single pallet 12 is replaced by two pallets fixed on the one hand on the small sleeve 44 and on the other hand on the large sleeve 43; they no longer pass through the rotor, but can each slide in the latter through a movable part 45 similar to that described in the second version. These pallets are only separated from each other by a few rotor degrees. The sleeve 44 rests on the rotor along a line of tangency located only a few degrees after the line of tangency TT '. Between the two pallets is machined the transfer channel 20 which passes through the rotor.
It is no longer provided with a calibrated valve 21, the valve is no longer necessary.
The advantage of this arrangement lies in the fact that the end of compression corresponds to the phase of beginning of expansion; gases can therefore be transferred directly, avoiding the stopping phase in
the transfer channel 20, moreover this being very short and being no longer provided with a valve 21 will greatly limit the high pressure drops which may occur in the channel when the engine is running at high speed. This provision allows, in
<EMI ID = 61.1>
what ratio between the volume of the interior compartment
10 and that of the external compartment 9.
Sealing, cooling, lights will be made as in the second or third
version and are not described here.
It is obvious that the invention is not limited to the details described above and that numerous modifications can be made to these details without departing from the scope of the invention.
Also, we can consider a multitude of shapes for the rotor and the envelope as shown in the schematic cross sections of the figures
23 and 24 Likewise, several motors of the same type can be coupled in the same envelope, as shown in the diagrammatic cross section of FIG. 25 of an motor comprising three paddles arranged asymmetrically. These three pallets in fact create 10 chambers where the engine cycles will take place, however 2 of these chambers can always be neglected performing the same cycle as 2 other chambers.
The engine according to the invention can also operate on fuels other than petrol, for example a liquefied gas. Or a petrol / methanol mixture.
Fuel can also be sucked into the intake chamber or injected into the expansion chamber.
