"Method and device for the production of flammable gas from liquid mesto"
The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for the production of combustible gas such as methane gas, from liquid manure, for feeding the combustion device of a heating or power plant.
The main object of the invention is to produce inexpensive and efficient combustible gas.
According to the main feature of the method according to the invention, this is possible by heating liquid manure, collecting the released methane gas in a gas container and using it for further heating of the manure and of a heating or power plant.
By heating the liquid fertilizer at approximately 35 to 37 [deg.] C and removing the gases and air that first escape from it as residue, an optimum methane gas for consumption is obtained.
To break the hard layer that forms on the liquid manure
<EMI ID = 1.1>
at certain times the gas above the manure is again sent through the manure, whereby the sediment is also always mixed with the manure.
According to the invention, chopped straw or sawdust from Canada or pine can be added to the manure to make the watery manure more firm.

mainly consists of a fermentation tank, a means for
filling the major part of the fermentation tank with liquid manure, a collector mounted on the fermentation tank for collecting the gas rising from the liquid manure, a gas holder for storing the collected gas, a burner fed by said gas holder and intended for heating a boiler, a heat exchanger mounted in said fermentation tank for heating the liquid manure and connected to said heating boiler, pipes connected on the one hand to said heating boiler and on the other hand to a heating or power installation, a means for breaking the hard surface layer which forms on the liquid manure, and a means for temporarily feeding the burner with industrial gas when the device is started up.
As an example without any limiting character, a more detailed description of a possible embodiment of the device according to the invention follows, with reference to the accompanying drawing.
In this drawing one sees the manure pit 1 for the collection of liquid manure. A vacuum cleaner leaves from this manure pit

vacuum tank 4. In order to prevent the surface layer of the liquid manure from hardening in the fermentation tank 7 and so that no more gas could rise, use is made of a circulation pipe 17 with several pipes 18, the outlet of which is close to the bottom of the fermentation tank 7 has been applied. This circulation line, which is provided with a valve 19, is also

This procedure is repeated so often until the fermentation tank is about 80% full. After filling the fermentation tank, the

<EMI ID = 17.1> introduced the fermentation tank 7, so that the gas is forced through the liquid manure. This also pushes up the sediment at the bottom of the fermentation tank 7 and mixes it with the liquid manure. The liquid manure that has been fermented is discharged through the outlet 23.
<EMI ID = 18.1> necessary, this can be used for other purposes, such as driving a gasoline engine which in turn can drive an alternator to generate electric current. Many other applications are of course possible.
If the liquid manure contains too much water, this manure can be thickened by adding chopped straw or

can expire. Also, a certain amount of additives such as enzymes can be added daily to increase the volume of methane gas, thereby also increasing the efficiency of the device.
For larger companies, for which the capacity of this installation is not sufficient, a second fermentation tank can be provided with the same supply and discharge pipes and accessories, so that twice as much methane gas can be obtained. Several fermentation tanks can also be provided, increasing capacity
