<EMI ID=3.1>

"Method for drilling a well and work area for implementing this method" The subject of the present invention is a method for drilling a well from a small diameter conduit, previously drilled in the axis of the well to be made, through which a circular drill head with knurls is pulled upwards.
The object of the invention is to provide a method of drilling a well which makes it possible to ensure in an extremely effective manner the safety of the personnel engaged in the arrangement of the well below the level of the drilling head.
To this end, according to the invention, a working area is arranged below the drilling head, movable along the axis of the well, protected by a shield facing the drilling head, only from this area of drilling. work we raise, following the movement of the drilling head, a coating of the well and that we take support on this coating, on the one hand, to support the area

move this area so that it follows the progression of the drill head.
According to the invention, the work area is arranged so that the shield is located in the immediate vicinity
of the drilling head and that this area is moved, bearing on the lining of the well, so that the distance between the shield and the drilling head remains substantially constant.
The invention also relates to a mobile work area, protected by a shield, for the implementation of the above process.
According to the invention, this work area comprises two superimposed platforms, substantially horizontal, the section of which is smaller than the internal section of the lining of the well so that the platforms can move freely inside the lining according to the invention. 'axis of the well, means for connecting the platforms' to each other and arranged to move, parallel to themselves, the platforms relative to each other, the aforementioned shield, disposed substantially parallel to the upper platform, the section of which is slightly smaller than the internal section of the well and at least equal to the external section of the covering, means for connecting the shield to the upper platform and arranged to move the shield, parallel to itself,
relative to the upper platform and means provided on each of the platforms and arranged to allow them to be immobilized temporarily with respect to the covering, the latter means being retractable and cooperating with horizontal grooves provided in the covering from its internal face.
Other details and particularities of the invention will emerge from the description of the drawings, annexed to this specification, which illustrate the aforementioned process and which represent, by way of nonlimiting example, a particular embodiment of the working area. according to the invention.
Figure 1 is a schematic elevational view in section, with partial broken lines, showing the well in progress, with its drilling head, its working area and the lining of the well.
Figures 2 and 3 are sectional views along Figures II-II and III-III of Figure 1.

circular wheel 4 (raise drill). For the arrangement of the well 1 below the drilling head 4, a working area 5 is arranged, movable along the axis 3 of the well, protected by a shield 6 facing the head 4. From the area 5, we raise, following the movement of the head 4, a coating 7 of the well and we take

the drilling head 4. To eliminate the risks that may result from the falling of the head 4 on the shield 6, in the event of breakage of the means for driving said head upwards, the area 5 is brought into a position such , with respect to the head 4, that the shield 6 is located in the immediate vicinity of the drilling head 4. In addition, this area 5 is displaced, bearing on the covering 7, so that the distance 9 which separates the shield 6 of the head 4 remains substantially constant. To do this, the movement of the shield 6 and even that of the working area 5 is advantageously controlled from the drilling head 4.
Work area 5, according to the invention and shown
in the drawings, comprises two superimposed platforms 10 and 11, substantially horizontal whose section is smaller than the internal section of the covering 7 of the well so that the platforms can move freely inside the covering along the axis 3 of the well, means 12 for connecting the platforms 10 and 11 to each other and arranged to move, in parallel
to themselves, said platforms, one with respect to the other, the shield 6, disposed substantially parallel to the upper platform 10, the section of which is slightly less than the internal section of the well and at least equal to the outer section of the covering 7, means 13 for connecting the shield 6 to the upper platform 10 and arranged to move the shield, parallel to itself, relative to the platform 10 and means
14 provided on each of the platforms 10 and 11 and arranged to allow them to be immobilized temporarily with respect to the covering 7. these means 14 being retractable and cooperating with horizontal grooves 15 provided in the covering 7 from
its internal face 16. The aforementioned means 14 are advantageously arranged so that the force which they exert on the covering 7 is substantially parallel to the axis 3 of the well and directed downwards.
So that the work of lining the well is carried out
from the platform 10 in complete safety and protected from the landslide of the wall 17 of the well, the shield 6 has, over its entire periphery, a cylindrical skirt 18 whose height is such that, when the shield 6 and the platform 10 occupy their closest position, the lower edge 19 of the skirt is located at a level substantially equal to that of the floor 20 of the platform 10. The shield 6 has an opening 21 intended
on the evacuation of drilling debris, this opening 21 communicates with a pipe connected to the shield and which extends up to
at a level lower than that of the lower platform 11, the debris then escapes into a pipe 23 fixed to said platform 11. The pipe 22 is free relative to the platforms 10 and 11 and is arranged in openings 24 formed in the latter, so that said platforms can move relative to each other along the pipe 22. Lifting means 25 are associated with the shield 6 and arranged in space 28 included between the latter and the platform 10, a valve opening 26 being provided in each of the platforms 10 and 11 to allow the passage of the elements 27 of the covering 7 from bottom to top through the space 29 between the two platforms to transfer them to the space 28 where they will be used to build the covering 7.
The means 12 connecting the platforms 10 and 11 and ensuring their movements relative to each other are constituted by jacks 30 arranged between the platforms and whose axes are parallel to the axis 3 of the well. . These jacks 30 are regularly distributed around the periphery of the platforms, the cylinders 31 of the jacks being mounted on the platform 11 while

And this. by means of a joint 33 with a horizontal axis,
The control means, not shown, of the jacks
30 are arranged so that the latter are controlled simultaneously so that the parallelism of the platforms 10 and 11 is maintained during their movements. The means 13 connecting the shield 6 to the platform 10 are also constituted by jacks 34, advantageously aligned with the jacks 30, mounted between the platform 10 and the shield in the same way as the jacks 30, the means for control of the jacks 34 also being arranged to maintain the parallelism between the platform 10 and the shield 6 during movements of the latter relative
to the platform.
The means 14 provided on each of the platforms 10 and 11 for temporarily immobilizing them relative to the coating

shapes and regularly distributed around their edges.
These locks are guided in said platforms in order to be able to slide, along their longitudinal axes 36 substantially perpendicular to axis 3, between two extreme positions, a first position in which they are introduced into the peripheral grooves 15 of the covering to immobilize the platform relative to the latter and a second position in which they are completely disengaged from the grooves 15 to release the platform relative to said coating. The latches 35 are controlled, to move them between these two extreme positions, by jacks 37 whose axes coincide with the axes 36 and whose cylinders 38 are fixed to the platforms.
So that the work area 5 follows the progression of the drilling head 4, a control is not shown associated with the head 4 and arranged to act on the controls of the jacks 30 and 34 so that the movement of the head 4 up causes the shield and / or the platform to move
10 in the same direction. this control can for example be constituted by a rod, fixed to the drilling head, extending through the shield 6 to cooperate with the valves controlling the admission of pressurized fluid into the jacks 30 and 34, which are double effect. Cylinder control circuits 37
