STAAR SOCIETE ANONYME
la figure 1 est une vue en coupe latérale; la figure 2 est une vue de détail du dispositif de positionnement de la cassette dans le logement d'introduction ; la figure 3 est une vue en perspective montrant l'ensemble du plateau d'introduction et du mécanisme de translation de la cassette ; la figure 3A est une vue de détail ; la figure 4 est une vue partielle de derrière ;
les figures 5 et 6 sont des vues latérales montrant le mécanisme de translation de la cassette ; la figure 7 est une vue de dessus ;
les cliquets 18 sont soumis à leur propre poids et le cliquet situé sur la face supérieure du logement 8 prend la position représentée à la figure 8 ;
2) lorsque la cassette qui comprend une différence
de niveau 25 entre deux renflements 26-27 (figures 8 et 9) est introduite dans le logement 8, son extrémité 28 (figure 1) entre en contact avec le cliquet supérieur 18 et de ce fait celui-ci pivote autour de son axe 19 de façon à permettre l'introduction de la cassette. Pendant la phase d'introduction de ladite cassette, le cliquet frotte par l'extrémité de son repli 21 sur la face supérieure de la cassette 9 ;
contact avec le renflement 27 de la cassette, le mouvement d'introduction de la cassette est stoppé;
de la sorte, l'utilisateur peut être certain que la cassette est correctement positionnée pour la suite des opérations ;
(figure 4) .
<EMI ID=1.1>

STAAR SOCIETE ANONYME
In French patent application N [deg.] 79 13 716 of May 21, 1979, a cassette changer apparatus has been described and claimed which is more particularly suitable
in the case of video type cassettes and comprising a magazine intended to contain the cassettes; said store automatically ensuring in addition to the transport of the cassettes (to make their selection), the reversal thereof so that their full capacity can
be used and is therefore not limited to one side.
In an embodiment described in this request, a magazine contains only one cassette; the latter is arranged vertically on its edge and a tray arranged horizontally and supporting the magazine, ensures by its rotation, the reversal of the cassette so that its two faces can be used continuously, that is to say without user intervention.
However, in some video devices, it is desirable and even recommended that the turntable ensuring
the transport, recording and playback of the tape remains in a horizontal plane so that the quality of the restored image is the best possible.
The present invention relates to a device applicable to an apparatus in which the magazine is horizontal and aims to ensure by simple means and safely, in such an apparatus, the automatic turning of the cassettes, while performing the functions specific to the changer.
The invention therefore relates to a mechanism
for automatic turning of cassettes in a recording and reproducing apparatus provided with a free rotating housing intended to receive the cassette and to
keep it (storage position) when turning it over.
This mechanism is essentially characterized in that provision is made for stop means by which the movement of introduction of the cassette into said housing is stopped when the latter
has reached its storage level, and in that a device ensuring the transport of the cassette from its storage level to its operational level and vice versa cooperates with said stopping means, so as to be able to make them inactive.
In order to clearly understand the invention, it will be described below by way of example with reference to the drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a side sectional view; Figure 2 is a detail view of the cassette positioning device in the introduction housing; Figure 3 is a perspective view showing the assembly of the introduction plate and the cassette translation mechanism; Figure 3A is a detail view; Figure 4 is a partial rear view;
Figures 5 and 6 are side views showing the translational mechanism of the cassette; Figure 7 is a top view;
Figures 8, 8A, 9, 9A are detail views intended to illustrate the device for positioning the cassette in the introduction housing.
In the attached drawings, there is shown at 1 (FIG. 1) the chassis of the apparatus on which the video deck 2 is mounted and an automatic device for positioning the cassette on the video deck comprising a housing 3 receiving the cassette
9 provided with an elevator 4 comprising a rack 5 engaged with a toothed wheel 6 driven by a motor 7 (FIG. 1).
When the cassette 9 is correctly inserted by the user into the housing 3, a switch (not shown) automatically controls the powering up of the motor 7 which ensures the descent of the housing 3 on the plate 2.
The cassette 9 is therefore positioned on the plate so that the drive is possible,
reading and / or recording the magnetic tape.
When the end of the tape is reached, the motor 7 is automatically powered up to raise the housing 3 to its upper level so that the cassette can be removed by the user.
According to the invention, the apparatus comprises a plate 10 (Figure 3) held in a vertical median plane by four rollers 12 (Figure 1) also serving as guides during its rotation and comprising a slot 11 (Figures 1-3) in the extension of which is a housing 8 intended to receive the cassette 9.
As will be explained below, the plate 10 is driven for the purpose of turning the cassette over by a belt 13 (FIG. 3) controlled by a motor 14 whose shaft 15 carries a pulley 17.
The housing 8 has a rectangular section and each of its horizontal faces comprises a pawl shown in detail in FIGS. 2, 2A, 8 and 9.
Each ratchet consists of a plate
18 disposed in a direction perpendicular to the direction of introduction of the cassette and mounted for rotation about an axis 19 (Figure 2).
At one of its ends, the plate 18 is provided with a recess 21 having a vertical edge 22 and an oblique edge 23 (Figures 2 and 2A) while at its other end said plate carries an arm 24 extending parallel to the axis 19 of the plate 18.
The plates 18 of the pawls cooperate with the cassette 9 in the following manner:
1) when the housing 8 contains no cassette,
the pawls 18 are subjected to their own weight and the pawl located on the upper face of the housing 8 takes the position shown in Figure 8;
2) when the cassette which includes a difference
level 25 between two bulges 26-27 (Figures 8 and 9) is introduced into the housing 8, its end 28 (Figure 1) comes into contact with the upper pawl 18 and therefore it pivots about its axis 19 so as to allow the introduction of the cassette. During the insertion phase of said cassette, the pawl rubs at the end of its fold 21 on the upper face of the cassette 9;
3) when the vertical profile 22 of the pawl comes in
contact with the bulge 27 of the cassette, the insertion movement of the cassette is stopped;
in this way, the user can be certain that the cassette is correctly positioned for the subsequent operations;
4) when the user removes the sound cassette
housing, the oblique profile 23 of the pawl ensures the escape of said pawl so as to prevent the bulges and the roughness of the cassette from constituting an obstacle such as to prevent its extraction.
According to another characteristic of the invention, there is provided a mechanism which once the cassette 9 correctly inserted into the housing
8, automatically performs its loading in the housing 3 which then ensures its positioning on the video deck.
This mechanism includes in main order
a lever 30 (Figures 3, 4 and 7) which is mounted so as to be able to pivot around an axis 31 arranged parallel to the direction of movement of the cassette (Figures 4 and 7) carried by a carriage 32 provided with rollers 33 allowing its displacement along a bar 34 secured to the chassis 1 (Figures
4 and 5). This carriage 32 comprises an axis 37 around which a pawl 36 can pivot (FIGS. 3, 4, 5,
6) which is driven by a cable 39 (FIGS. 5 and 6) fixed to a tenon 51. The cable 39 is controlled by a reversible motor 42 (preferably of the stepping type) while rollers 40 ensure its circulation
(figure 4).
The lever 30 comprises at its end opposite the carriage 32 a stud 43 intended to penetrate into
an opening 9 <1> of the cassette (FIGS. 7, 8, 9) as well as a tab 44 with oblique fold 35 (FIG. 3) intended to cooperate respectively with the arm 24
of the pawl 18 and with a stop 45 mounted on the housing 8-10 of the cassette.
The pawl 36 comprises at each of its ends a notch 47-48 (FIG. 6) intended to come and hang on retaining stops
49-50 located at the end points.
As the cable 39 is fixed to the pawl in
a point 51 well above its axis of rotation
37, said pawl is pivoted in the direction of movement of the cable 39, so that the notch 47-48 is released from the corresponding retaining stop 49-50.
At the end of the race, the pawl 36 engages by one of its notches 47-48 on the corresponding stop 49-50 and simultaneously actuates a switch 52-53 intended to cut the power supply to the motor 42.
As a result, the lever 30 is kept in a stable position (AV or AR) thanks to a very simple device.
At its end, the lever 30 is folded
in a U and its branch 54 (FIG. 4) is crossed by an axis 55 carrying a caster 56 guided by a bent lever 57 which is subjected to the action of an electromagnet 58 whose purpose is to rotate it around an axis 59 secured to the chassis 1.
The lever 57 therefore forms a guide cooperating with the lever 30 so that its inclination ensures the pivoting of the lever 30 about its axis
31 and releases its end 43 from the cassette.
When the cassette 9 is correctly positioned in the housing 8, the motor 42 is automatically powered up and the cable 39 translates the lever 30 in the direction of the arrow F2 (FIG. 9).
In the inoperative position (end of travel against the plate 10), the oblique fold 35 cooperates with the stop 45 (Figure 8) so that the stud 43 is released from the opening 9 <1> beyond
cassette in order to allow the introduction or the extraction thereof.
When the motor 42 drives the carriage 32 towards the housing 3, the lever 30 leaves the position shown in FIG. 8; its fold 35 escapes
the stop 45 and therefore its tab 44 acts on the arm 24 of the pawl 18 so that its profile 22 is released from the bulge 27 of the cassette and releases the latter.
Simultaneously, the stud 43 enters the opening 9 of the cassette in order to translate it towards the housing 3 and position it there.
As explained above, the lowering mechanism (elevator) of the cassette is then actuated.
Because the lever 30 is mounted on the axis 31 so as to be able to pivot around the latter, this lever can follow the beginning of the movement of descent of the cassette on the turntable.
In this way the stud 43 can guide the cassette and ensure that it will not move.
Such an arrangement is indeed appreciable in the case where the device uses cassettes whose magnetic strip is protected by a door mounted on a spring which is likely to have a tendency to make the cassette move back when the housing 3 lowers it on the plate video. Such
backing up could prevent correct positioning of the cassette on the turntable and could damage these two parts.
To keep the housing 8 of the plate 10 in a horizontal position, two stop pins 60 (FIG. 3A) are provided diametrically opposite on the plate 10.
With these tenons 60 cooperates a lever 61 pivoting on an axis 62 integral with the chassis 1. Said lever maintains the tenon 60 by a notch 63 provided at its end.
At its other end, the lever 61 is provided with a lug 64 subjected to the action of a spring.
66 and on which an electromagnet 65 acts. When the plate 10 must rotate 180 [deg.], First of all the electromagnet 65 is actuated and the end, provided with the notch 63 of the lever 61 is tilted down thus releasing the lower post 60.
The rotation motor 14 is then energized and once the plate has started
to turn, the power of the electromagnet 65 is cut so that the lever 61 returns in
its original position. When the opposite tenon 60 comes down, it comes into contact with the curved upper side of the lever 61 and causes it to tilt against the spring 66. When the tenon 60 arrives opposite the notch 63 the lever 61 returns under the thrust of the spring 66 and locks said tenon. At the same time, the power supply to the motor 14 is cut off.
When the end of the tape is reached on one face of the cassette, the latter is raised by its housing 3; the pin 43 of the lever 30 comes
<EMI ID = 1.1>
the motor 42 translates the cassette towards the housing 8.
When the cassette moves back, the oblique profile 23 of the pawl 18 intervenes in such a way that it can, by its pivoting, allow this return to the housing 8.
At the end of the race, the tab 35 cooperates with the stop 45 (FIG. 8) and therefore the stud
43 is released from the cassette; the pawl 18 being in the position shown in Figure 8A.
At this moment the lever 30 is locked in this inoperative position by the electromagnet 58 and the motor 42 drives it quickly until it reaches halfway (FIG. 5) so as to be released from the housing 8 ( figure 6:
switch 67).
Consequently, the plate 10 ensures a reversal of the cassette by 180 [deg.] As described above.
At the end of this rotation, the lever 30
is brought back to the position shown in figure 8
and the electromagnet 58 is turned off.
Then the motor 42 is energized and
the lever 30 returns the cassette to its housing 3 so that its other face is automatically positioned on the turntable.
The following should also be noted:
When the housing 8 is rotated,
the cassette is locked in the first 90 [deg.]
by the pawl 18 initially located on the upper face; then in the second 90 [deg.] by the pawl initially located on the underside. In this way, the cassette cannot be engaged any further in the housing 8. At the time when the housing 8 occupies
an upright position, the two pawls which are only subjected to their own weight have only a weak action and if the user inadvertently exerted a push on the cassette, precisely at this moment, it could happen that the cassette escapes the pawls.
To prevent this type of incident, the
chassis supporting the plate includes a tab 68
(Figure 1) which prohibits any movement of the cassette during its inversion
On the other hand, when the cassette is
returned to its housing 8 and that the stud 43 leaves the opening 9 of the cassette, it may be that the latter still has sufficient inertia under the influence of which it would tend to move back more than expected. Such a phenomenon should be avoided
because if the cassette is turned 180 [deg.] to be reloaded on the video deck, this additional retreat destroys the synchronization between the lever 30 and the opening 9 <1> of the cassette and it can happen that the nipple 43 misses said opening and that the cassette is not translated.
To remedy this drawback, a pad 100 is provided on each of the faces of the housing 8 subjected to the influence of a spring 101 to slow the movement of the cassette and keep it in the ideal position (FIG. 7).
The position of these pads can advantageously correspond to that of the orifices existing in the cassette to allow the drive of the two coils supporting the magnetic strip.
CLAIMS
1. Mechanism for automatic turning of cassettes in a recording apparatus and
reproduction unit with a free rotating housing intended to receive and maintain the cassette
(storage position) during its rotational movement, characterized in that stop means are provided by which the movement of introduction of the cassette into said housing (8) is stopped when it has reached its level storage, and in that a device ensuring the transport of the cassette from its storage level to its operational level and vice versa cooperates with said stop means, so as to be able to make them inactive.
