STAAR SOCIETE ANONYME
<EMI ID=1.1>
- la figure 1 représente une vue en coupe longitudinale d'une version du dispositif existant de chargement par tiroir dans la position sortie le disque ayant été déposé dans son logement ;
- la figure 2 représente le même dispositif dans sa position rentrée ;
- la figure 3 représente en coupe le dispositif suivant l'invention version "course du tiroir prolongée" dans la position du tiroir entièrement sorti ;
- la figure 4 représente en coupe longitudinale le même dispositif dans la position où le tiroir atteint la position correspondant à la sortie habituelle du tiroir ;
- la figure 5 représente une coupe longitudinale du même dispositif dans la position finale rentrée du tiroir ;

(descente du disque en position horizontale) ;
- la figure 10 est une vue suivant la ligne de coupe A-A dans la figure 8 ;
- la figure 11 illustre une variante de réalisation ;
- les figures 12, 13 et 14 représentent schématiquement dans ses trois positions principales une réalisation du dispositif ou celui-ci réalise également la descente du disque sur le plateau d'entraînement du tourne-disque ;
i
(figure 4).
(figure 14), le support 9 est rabattu complètement

STAAR SOCIETE ANONYME
The present invention relates to the device for loading discs into turntables, more particularly discs carrying so-called optical information, the reading of which is carried out by laser.
The very principle of optical reading and the extreme density of the information carried by these discs make them sensitive to stains, in particular fingerprints, scratches, etc., liable to interfere with their correct reading.
It is to avoid as much as possible this risk of degradation that the turntables intended to read in the horizontal plane the compact discs are generally provided with a loading device by drawer in which the user deposits the disc with its recorded side in a horizontal plane - arrangement encouraging the user to handle the disc by its periphery - the disc being precisely positioned in a centering housing provided in the bottom of the drawer. To bring the disc into the reading position, the control button provided is actuated or a light pressure is applied to the front face of the drawer which is then generally moved by motorized means towards the interior of the device.
At the end of reading or on command, the drawer is moved outwards and brings the disc within reach of the user who recovers it by grasping it, for this purpose, by its periphery thanks
cutouts or depressions provided in the bottom of the drawer.
The disadvantage of this device is that it allows the correct and easy installation of the disc in the drawer and especially its removal only when the reading device is at a limited height, manipulation of the disc by its periphery becoming unpleasant or even problematic when the device is placed too high.
The object of the present invention is to carry
<EMI ID = 1.1>
highlighting the advantages of the drawer loading device.
An additional aim is to make loading and unloading of the disc particularly easy in general in turntable devices provided with a loading drawer.
A third aim is to achieve the advantages listed above, in complete safety and by reliable, simple, easily achievable means therefore of reduced cost.
The device, object of the invention, consists in providing the loading drawer with means which, in the drawer exit position, make it possible to receive and hold the disc in an inclined plane relative to the drawer, facing the user , which during loading, bring the disc by pivoting, in a position which allows its loading by the horizontal displacement of the drawer and which during unloading, at the end of the horizontal displacement movement out of the drawer, by a reverse pivoting movement, again present the disc in an inclined plane relative to the drawer, facing the user.
The positioning means are preferably constituted by a support pivoting about a horizontal longitudinal axis, the support being able to take two extreme positions under the action of the control means acting either during an extension of the stroke of the drawer beyond that necessary to fully remove the disc, or after the end of this race.
In one of the preferred embodiments of the invention described below, means are provided which further increase the ease of loading, in particular
by allowing the control of the drawer by a pressure exerted on the disc after its installation.
In another embodiment, an intermediate position of the pivoting support is provided in order to allow it also to be used for depositing the disc on the rotary drive plate.
In order to better understand the invention, the broad outline of the known device for loading a disc by drawer is described below, and preferred embodiments of the invention are described using the drawings, in which:
- Figure 1 shows a longitudinal sectional view of a version of the existing drawer loading device in the extended position the disc having been deposited in its housing;

- Figures 12, 13 and 14 schematically show in its three main positions an embodiment of the device or it also performs the descent of the disc on the drive plate of the record player;
- Figures 15, 16 and 17 illustrate the details of the embodiment according to Figures 12, 13 and 14.
Figures 1 and 2 illustrate the existing loading device by drawer respectively in the extended and retracted position of the drawer 2 relative to the fixed frame 1 of the device.
In the extended position, the housing 5 is accessible for depositing the disc 8 in a horizontal position on retractable supports 6 which keep it at a level allowing it to pass over the centering axis 31 of the drive plate 30 the turntable when moving the drawer towards the interior of the unit; after depositing the disc, a mechanism controlled by a switch provided for this purpose, or by a switch reacting to a pressure exerted on the drawer, drives the drawer 2 by means of a rack 7 secured to the drawer and a toothed wheel motorized (not shown) being guided by guides
4 in its extreme retracted position (FIG. 2) where the disc 8, after having been brought precisely over the drive plate 30, has been lowered onto this plate following the descent of the supports 6 by means intervening in the end of the horizontal stroke of the drawer.
i
For the unloading of the disc, the various operations are carried out in the opposite direction, the disc 8 is lifted by the supports 6 to a level where it does not interfere with the centering axis 31 and the drawer 2 is then moved outside. from the device to its extended position illustrated in FIG. 1 in which the disc can be taken up by the user.
Figures 3, 4, 5 illustrate an embodiment of the invention where the stroke of the drawer 2 is extended outward respectively in an extreme position of the drawer outlet, in an intermediate position and in an extreme retracted position. It will be seen with respect to the known device, the presence of a support 9 pivoting about its horizontal and transverse axis 10 par'rapport the drawer 2, this axis 10 being located near the front face of the drawer. In the position of FIG. 3, this support 9 occupies an inclined position relative to the drawer 2, the lug 15 formed on an elbow extension 14 of the support 9, being retained by a stop
18 provided at the end of a slide 11 against the action of a spring 17 fixed at 20 to the drawer 2 and at 21 at the bent extension 14 of the support 9.
Behind the scenes
11 guided by pins 12 of the drawer 2 can move longitudinally thanks to the buttonholes 13 provided
to this end. The slide 11 ends at its rear part with a stop 19 which limits its travel accompanying the movement of the slide 2 against the front wall of the frame 1 during its exit movement.
In the extreme exit position of the loading drawer 2, the pivoting support 9 therefore constitutes a support allowing the user to place the disc in the front part of the housing 5 in an inclined plane and maintains the latter in this position. During a loading operation, the drawer 2 is moved back to its retracted position as in the existing devices.
Because of this movement of the drawer 2 and the axis 10
relative to the stop 18 of the slide 11, which is no longer maintained because the stop 19 leaves the front wall of the chassis 1, the support 9 pivots under the traction of the spring 17 and takes its lowered position
(figure 4). At this time the disc 8 is positioned as usual along the horizontal plane on the supports 6. In the extreme retracted position of the drawer 2 (Figure 5) the disc 8 is then lowered onto the drive plate 30 following the descent supports 6 per
usual means and known per se.
As indicated above in the brief description of the existing devices for loading discs with a drawer, a large number of these allow the drive means of the drawer to be started inwards when in the "out" position. causes a very slight displacement of the drawer towards the device, this results from the action of the drawer on a switch generally via the
input wheel which cooperates with the rack, driven in slight rotation by the latter.
It will be noted that the means provided in the embodiments described above allow the same slight displacement of the drawer necessary for the commissioning of the drive means of the drawer, following a light pressure exerted not only on the drawer
but also on the pivoting support in an elevated position, in particular by means of the disc.
Indeed, by taking for example the version illustrated in FIGS. 3, 4 and 5, it will be understood that a pressure exerted on the disc 8 in the direction of the apparatus will have the effect of making the support 9 pivot around its axis 10 and by the tenon 15 bearing on the stop 18 of the slide 11, itself held in place by the stop 19 relative to the frame 1, to exercise 1
by its axis 10 a pressure on the drawer causing
the slight displacement of the latter which by the means known per se set in motion the means of displacement of the drawer towards the interior of the apparatus.
FIGS. 6 to 10 show another practical embodiment of the invention according to which the slide 2 maintains its normal outward travel.
For this purpose, provision is made instead of a rack 7 integral with the drawer, as shown in the figures.
1 and 2, a rack 7 secured to a slide 23 carried by tenons 25 fixed on the lateral side of the drawer 2. The slide 23 can move longitudinally relative to the drawer thanks to the buttonholes 24 provided for this purpose.
The front part of the slide is further provided with an inclined ramp 50 which can act on
a stud 15 secured to the support 9 pivoting about the axis 10.
In this embodiment, means are further provided for securing and detaching longitudinally
the slide 23 carrying the rack 7 and the drawer 2. These means comprise for example a lug 27 carried by a lever 28 pivoting about an axis 29 integral with the drawer 2. This lug 27 can engage in a notch 26 provided in the slide 23 in order to make it integral with the drawer or can be released from the notch 26 of the slide 23 to release it. To control the movement of the lever 28 and of the lug 27, the lever also carries a stud 36 which can cooperate with a cutout 37 in the form of a ramp provided in a cross member 35 secured to the chassis 1 of the device. In addition, the lever 28 is provided with an elastic tab 34 bearing against a stop 33 integral with the drawer 2 so as to exert a permanent thrust on the lug
27 towards the slide 23 and therefore towards the notch 26.
When the drawer leaves the movement under the effect of the rotation of the toothed wheel 41, the rack 7 is thus made integral with the drawer 2.
When the drawer approaches its extreme position of exit, the tenon 36 engages in the
cutout 37 which causes the lever 28 to pivot and the lug 27 to exit from the notch 26 against the action of the elastic tab 34. The rack 7 and the slide 23 are therefore separated from the drawer 2 and can continue their outward movement always controlled by the toothed wheel 41.
Thus, the drawer 2 having reached
its extreme position of exit (fig. 6), the ramp 50 of the slide 23 begins to act on the lug 15 and causes the pivoting of the support 9 around the axis 10, presenting the disc 8 according to an inclined plane released from the housing 5 of the drawer.
At this moment, a stud 40- provided on the toothed control wheel 41 acts on a switch 42 to cut the power supply to the electric motor
(not shown) driving this gear.
When loading the disc,
the same operations are performed in reverse and this is how the rack 7 is first moved back causing the folding of the support 9 in a horizontal position and the positioning of the disc 8 on its supports 6 before the drawer begins to move towards the interior.
It is therefore in complete safety that the disc is positioned during the loading operation and during the output operation.
Figure 11 shows a variant of the embodiment described above in that the slide 23 carries at its front part a connecting rod 51 articulated at 52 on the slide 23 and connected by its other end to the stud 15 of the support 9. The race of the 1 lug 15 is in this case limited according to a cut
53 in the shape of an arc of a circle.
As described above, the known devices are generally equipped with retractable supports 6 which, during the horizontal movement of the drawer 2, keep the disc 8 at a raised level, allowing it to pass over the centering axis 31 of the turntable drive plate 30.
Thanks to the device, object of the invention, it is also possible to provide an embodiment according to which
the disc is also held to pass over the drive means 30, 31 during the horizontal displacement of the drawer 2 and according to which the disc 8 is then lowered onto its drive means in the operative position by the support 9.
Figures 12 to 17 show an example of this embodiment.
In FIG. 12, the drawer_2 has been shown in the extreme position of exit relative to the device 1. The disc 8 is maintained, according to the invention, in an inclined position by the support 9.
Following the command to put the disc 8 into read position, the latter has pivoted to a horizontal position but has been retained in an intermediate position which however allows it to pass through the slot 3 formed in the front face of the apparatus. .
This pivoting of the disc 8 is caused by the folding of the support 9 under the action of control means as described above. However, instead of the disc being deposited in a raised horizontal position on supports 6, the support 9 keeps the disc in a position sufficiently inclined to pass over the drive means 30, 31 during the horizontal movement of the drawer 2 .
When the drawer reaches the extreme retracted position
(Figure 14), the support 9 is folded down completely
to lower and release the disc 8 on its rotary drive plate 30 and this by the intervention of the elements normally provided in the apparatus to perform this operation by an action causing the descent of the supports 6 of the disc 8 (Figure 4).
Figures 15 to 17 show a practical example of such a device in which
the elements intended to act on the supports of the disc in order to cause the lowering of the latter (FIG. 16) are vertical projections carried by a bridge 60 pivoting vertically around an axis 61 carried by the chassis 1 under the action of 'a spring 62; this bridge carries
at the end opposite its pivot point a housing 65 containing a magnetic ring 64 intended to cooperate with the plate 30 and its axis 31 to tighten
the disc on these, when the drawer having reached its extreme retracted position, this bridge is released by the loading mechanism by the action of its spring 62.
Starting now in substance from the embodiment illustrated in FIGS. 6 to 10, we find in FIG. 15: the drawer 2, the disc 8 held by the support 9 and the slide 23 carrying the rack 7 with a ramp 55 cooperating with the tenon
15 of support 9.
In order to maintain the disc 8 in a slightly inclined position, the travel of the ramp 55 has been limited and a spring leaf 68 has been provided to hold the support 9 in this position.
In addition, a vertical cutout 69 has been provided, extending the oblique ramp 55 downwards and allowing the post 15 to descend at the desired time.
FIG. 15 shows the drawer 2 in its extreme retracted position, the disc 8 having passed over the drive means 30, 31.
To put the disc 8 on its tray in the operative position, the pivoting bridge 60 is then folded down (Figures 16 and 17) and the vertical projection 67 acts on the lug 15 so as to push it to the bottom of the vertical cutout 69 at the against the action of the leaf spring 68. As a result, the support 9 is completely lowered and kept in a horizontal position while the disc 8 is clamped on its drive plate 30 by the magnetic ring 64.
The toothed wheel 41 reaches its rest position at this time, the stud 40 having actuated the switch 42 in the other direction and the disc 8 is rotated to read the information it carries.
CLAIMS
1. Disc loading device for record players in which the loading is carried out by a drawer (2) which can take two positions in a horizontal plane, one exit, allowing the deposit or the manual removal of the disc ( 8) and the other, retracted, corresponding to the placing in the operative position of the disc on its drive means (30), characterized in that this loading drawer (2) is provided with means (9) which in the position drawer outlet, allow to receive and maintain the disc (8) in an inclined plane relative to the drawer (2) facing the user, who during loading, bring the disc by pivoting, in a position that allows its loading by the horizontal movement of the drawer (2) and which during unloading,
at the end of the horizontal movement of the drawer outlet by a reverse pivoting movement again present the disc (8) in an inclined plane relative to the drawer (2) facing the user.
