N[deg.] 7915727.
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=5.1>

<EMI ID=11.1>
<EMI ID=13.1>
<EMI ID=15.1>
<EMI ID=16.1>

The present invention relates to a prefabricated inspection chamber, for use in a drainage installation or a sewer system, this chamber comprising a manhole and a base provided with at least one channel extending between an inlet opening and an outlet opening.
Normally, such a chamber comprises a main channel extending across the base, between a main inlet opening and a main flow opening, and a series of auxiliary channels crossing the: _base to connect respectively an opening of entry to the main channel.
The object of the present invention is to provide an improvement intended to connect the inlet and outlet pipes to the inspection chamber.
According to the present invention, the aforementioned prefabricated inspection chamber is characterized in that the base is made of a synthetic material and comprises an integral structure of the side walls, circular openings formed in said integral structure to constitute said inlet orifices and outlet, in that separate end pieces, arranged to fit on the inlet and outlet pipes, are arranged at each of said openings, and in that each of said end pieces

tee along the outside surface of a pipe inserted into the end piece, this sealing orifice simultaneously serving to seal the end piece with the inside surface of the inspection chamber.
Said end fittings can be arranged in pockets which equip the internal surface of said integral structure with side walls, each of these end fittings defining, with said internal surface, an annular groove in which a seal is housed
<EMI ID = 3.1> <EMI ID = 4.1>
also in contact with the walls of said groove, at least when a pipe is introduced into said tip, to effectively ensure the seal between said tip and the inspection chamber. Thanks to this embodiment, it is no longer necessary to resort to liquid solder or any other sealing means to secure, in a sealed manner, the nozzle to the inspection chamber.
Alternatively, the circular openings may be defined by cylindrical portions, said end pieces constituting

position on one of the openings, and a shutter adapted on the inner end of the closed orifice.
With reference to fig. 1 to 3 of the drawings, the inspection chamber comprises a main body 1 produced by molding a synthetic material reinforced with glass fibers. The side walls of the body 1 have a circular cross section slightly conical towards the inside, the angle of conicity being three degrees from its upper edge 2 towards its base 3. The base 3 comprises a main drainage channel 4 (fig. 1) which passes through it, and which has an appropriate slope between the inlet opening 5 and the discharge orifice 6. The base also includes four auxiliary channels 7 which connect, under an appropriate slope, the channel
<EMI ID = 11.1>
The inlet openings 5 and 8 and the discharge orifice 6 are formed in the outer sides of pockets 9 (FIG. 2), which are produced during the molding of the main body 1. The interior walls of the pockets 9 are open respectively in channels 4 and 7. The pockets 9 are open upwards and each houses an identical end piece 10, which is introduced from the top of each pocket and which adapts tightly to this pocket. The end piece 10 is dimensioned in such a way that when the male end 11
<EMI ID = 12.1> internal arrives flush with the surface of the associated canal.
With particular reference to FIG. 3, the end piece 10 is constituted by two built-in parts 12 and 13. The part 12 comprises a circular opening, the periphery of which is flush with the surface of the channel associated with a sleeve 15 of diameter greater than that of the circular opening, to allow the introduction by pushes of a section 16 of a part 13. A shoulder 17, disposed between the periphery 14 of the sleeve 15 of the part
12, constitutes a stop limiting the movement towards the inside of the male end 11. The part 12 of the end piece 10 extends upwards, to form an inclined shoulder 18 aligned with the inclined shoulders 19 (fig. 2) formed in the main body 1 between the pockets 9, in order to avoid crevices inside which solid materials could be accumulated.
The part 12 of the pocket 9 is reinforced by ribs 20 which connect the sleeve 15 and the shoulder 18.
At the outer end of its section 16, the part 13 of the endpiece 10 shifts radially outward, to form a shoulder 21 extending axially in the form of an annular sector 22 disposed at its outer end. The outer edge
23 of the annular sector 22 is profiled so that when the tip is housed in the pocket 9, the outer edge 23 fits
<EMI ID = 13.1>
sections 15 and 16 of the parts 12 and 13 of the endpiece include a key and slot locking, such that they can only be adjusted in one orientation and cannot rotate relatively with respect to each other, in order to '' ensure correct adjustment of the edge 23 against the inner surface of the pocket 9.
As shown in the figures, the shoulder 21 of the inner surface of the annular section 22 and the inner surface of the pocket 9 define an annular groove, in which is housed an annular seal 24 intended to seal with the male end 11. The annular seal 24 is sufficiently embedded in this groove to deform, at least when the male end 11 is introduced into the end piece 10, this deformation cause sealing with the walls of the groove, which has the consequence a tight seal of the end piece 10 with the inner surface of the main body 1.
FIG. 4 represents a different shape of the end piece 25 intended to be introduced into the pockets 9 in an exactly identical way to the positioning of the end pieces 10, of which they retain the <EMI ID = 14.1>
it is made in one piece from a synthetic material by molding. An annular seal 26, intended to seal the connection with the male end of a pipe, is housed in position at the outside end of the end piece 25. The outside end of the end piece 26 has a threshold 27 and the annular seal 26 is housed in the recessed portion. The annular seal 26 is positioned by a tongue 28 formed in one piece with the end piece 25, and which engages in a peripheral groove formed in the annular seal.
<EMI ID = 15.1>
not deformed and slightly protruding with respect to the outer end of the end-piece 25, so that when the end-piece 25 is engaged in the pocket 9, the annular seal 26 forms etane contact with the internal surface of the main body 1 of the inspection chamber, operating similarly to the annular seal.
FIGS. 5 to 8 illustrate more particularly a inspection chamber comprising a base section which comprises a base and side walls, the whole produced in one piece by molding.
synthetic material.
To form the entire inspection chamber, side wall sections are mounted on top of each other over the base section. The base section is circular, seen in plan, and has an upper rim 31 secured to a skirt 32. The bottom 33 of the base extends from the lower part of the edge 31. inside the skirt 32. The bottom 33 includes a main drainage channel 34 which passes right through it, between a main entrance opening 35 and an opening
<EMI ID = 16.1>
so that the channel has an appropriate drop. It also comprises four auxiliary channels 37 which connect, under an appropriate slope, the main channel 34 to four inlet openings 38.
The inlet openings 35 and 38 and the discharge orifice 36 are formed during the molding operation, and comprise cylindrical sections 39 arranged to accommodate end pieces 40 produced separately, which are also made of synthetic material by a technique injection molding. The end pieces 40 are fixed by snap-fastening in the cylindrical sections 39. To achieve this snap-fastening, the internal surface of each cylindrical section 39 comprises, at its internal end, an annular ramp 41 which ends in a shoulder: 42 defined by a side d 'a throat
43, formed at the inner end of the cylindrical section 39, and the end piece 40 includes an outer flange 44.
Therefore, when the end piece 40 is pushed into the cylindrical section 39, it undergoes an elastic deformation when the flange moves along the ramp 41, until it fits behind the shoulder 42, as shown more particularly in fig. 7.
The outer end, i.e. the mouth of the nozzle
40, is fixed by means of a rubber sealing member 45. The sealing member 45 comprises a rim 46 which folds around the outer end of the end piece 40 and abuts against the outer flange 47 of this end piece. The rim 46 of the sealing member
45 also has a thicker section 48, housed in a shallow annular groove 49 formed around the periphery of the end piece 40. This thickness of the rim 46 is such that it is in the state of compression when the end piece 40 is pushed into the cylindrical section 39, so that this end piece 40 is sealed in a sealed manner inside said cylindrical portion.
The sealing member 45 extends from the rim 46 over a rounded nose 50 of the mouth of the end piece 40, up to the skirt 53 which extends in the mouth of the end piece 40, to end with a bead 51 disposed at its free end. When the male end of a. pipe (not shown) is pushed into the end piece up to the internal shoulder 52, so that its internal surface is aligned with the corresponding drainage channel, the male end is tightly connected in the end piece, using the sealing member 45.
When only some of the openings 8 are used for the connection of pipes, the other openings are closed by shutters 54 as shown in FIG. 8. However, to avoid the accumulation of debris in the unused channels, rafts or deflectors 55 can be placed over the inner ends of the end pieces in the grooves 43, as shown in FIG. 8.
Although the base of the inspection chamber is shown with a small flange 1, this flange could be replaced by a wall extending over the entire length of the inspection chamber for drainage installation.
