processes ensuring the adhesion between concrete and a metal reinforcement with flat faces and on the other hand a beam with metal reinforcement at least partially coated with concrete produced by the new process.
We know that the adhesion of concrete to a flat metal surface of a reinforcement is relatively weak and that in order to improve this adhesion we
fixed to said flat surface abutments or projections called "adhesion" having various shapes and which are intended to oppose the relative sliding of the concrete relative to the reinforcement. The major drawback of these stops is that they must be fixed one by one on this flat surface; they are therefore necessarily quite large and relatively distant from each other: for example, from one to several decimeters. It will be understood that this is an expensive process but which comprises above all at the start the defect inherent in the large distance between the stops, of not sufficiently reducing the opening of cracks in the coating concrete when the latter is pulled.
This defect is so fundamental that certain regulations impose a special reduction in the admissible tensile stresses in the reinforcements.
with flat faces in contact with drawn concrete.
In addition, these adhesion stops do not in any case at the same time constitute a reinforcement of the reinforcement with flat faces.
The present invention overcomes these drawbacks by making it possible to produce metal beams at least partially coated with concrete, which are more economical and less crackable.
The method is characterized in that it is fixed over part of the .length
metal reinforcement, intended to be coated with concrete, a number of bars of the round concrete type with a tormented surface, so as to give,
at least partially, to one face of the metal frame in contact with the concrete, the quality of adhesion of a tormented face.
It turns out to be possible to combine a metal reinforcement with flat faces with bars of the round concrete type with a tormented surface by fixing them by any known process to the reinforcement with flat faces and to give this reinforcement qualities. adhesion comparable to those recognized with these said bars. of the "concrete round" type, which the industry supplies cheaply, and which are provided with fine and close projections obtained by rolling in the mass of these bars.
In order to better understand the invention, it will now be described in an illustrative and non-limiting manner with reference to an appended drawing which represents: FIG. 1: a cross-sectional view of a metal-reinforced beam partially coated with concrete, produced in accordance with the invention FIG. 2: a cross-sectional view of a metal frame beam entirely encased in concrete, produced in accordance with the invention; Figure 3: an elevational view along A-A of Figure 2; FIG. 4: a sectional view in a "reinforcing bar" with a tormented surface fixed to a flat face of the metal frame; FIG. 5: a view in partial elevation along B-B of FIG. 4; Figure 6: a sectional view along C-C of Figure 5; Figure 7: a sectional view along D-D of Figure 3.
Referring to these figures, there is represented by 1 the metal frame
with flat faces of a beam and respectively by 2 the lower flange, by 3 the upper flange, and by 4 the core of this metal reinforcement, by 5 the cover concrete, by 6 the reinforcing bars fixed to the flat faces of the metal frame 1, of which 6 'and 6 "are respectively rounds fixed to the sole 2 and 3, 6'" of the rounds fixed to the core 4, by 7 of the reinforcing bars not fixed to the metal frame with flat faces possibly provided in the coating concrete 5,
by 8 the welds which fix the reinforcing bars 6 to the flat faces of the metal reinforcement: however other means? fixing can be provided; by 9 the projections of the reinforcing bars 6; if it is also desired that the reinforcing bars 6. confer qualities of adhesion to the flat faces of the metal reinforcement to which they are fixed and that they also constitute a reinforcement of the section of the reinforcement it They should be oriented parallel to the main stresses, that is to say therefore for the reinforcing bars fixed to the footings 2 and 3, parallel to the axis of these said footings and for those to the core inclined relative to the axis thereof (Figure 3).
Of course, if the invention therefore makes it possible to produce beams with metal reinforcement at least partially coated with concrete which are both more economical
and making it possible to significantly reduce the opening of cracks in the coating concrete when the latter is pulled, it is not limited to the embodiments which have been shown in the accompanying drawing and one would not go beyond the scope
of the present invention by making beams with metal reinforcements partially or totally encased in concrete in which the concrete bars would be fixed only to one of the flat faces of the metal reinforcement covered in concrete, by not fixing reinforcing bars only over part of the length of these faces, by not orienting or only part of the reinforcing bars parallel to the main stresses, by orienting the reinforcing bars only over part of their length parallel to these stresses main, using any type of bars or reinforcing bars having a partially or totally tormented surface, and obtained by any production process.
