<EMI ID=1.1>
<EMI ID=2.1>

composants cités ci-dessus;
<EMI ID=9.1>
A cet effet,

TABLEAU II
<EMI ID=17.1>

"Adjuvant for cement-based compositions, process for preparing said adjuvant and cement paste, mortar, concrete comprising
this adjuvant ".
The present invention relates to an adjuvant for cementitious compositions and in particular for mortars and concretes.
It is known practice to introduce additives into the fresh cement mixture which make them more fluid, which give them better workability. These adjuvants, known as thinners, contain, inter alia, either a melamine resin or a lignosdfonate. These known thinners based on melamine resin, although causing a significant increase in the consistency of the fresh cement mixture
and although being compatible with all cements and developing good mechanical performance at later ages, yet having the drawback, when they are used with certain types of cement and aggregates, of reducing the mechanical strengths from 28 days. Lignosulfonate admixtures produce an insufficient increase in consistency and significant bleeding of the cement mixture and give fresh cement mixes a certain delay in setting and hardening. They also exhibit different behavior depending on the cement used.
One of the essential aims of the present invention therefore consists in overcoming the aforementioned drawbacks, in presenting an adjuvant for cement-based compositions, in particular for mortars and concretes, which gives them not only excellent workability but also an increase in mechanical resistance. In addition, this adjuvant considerably improves the homogeneity of the compositions, which results in low bleeding and the retention of a good appearance to the hardened cement compositions.
For this purpose, according to the invention, the adjuvant comprises a mixture of at least one lignosulfonate chosen from the group formed by alkali and alkaline earth lignosulfonates, an alkali salt of hydroxylated organic acid, an ester, a condensate of melamine-formaldehyde with sulfonic groups and an amino derivative.
According to a particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the aforesaid mixture comprises 10
to 35 parts by weight of lignosulphonate, 3 to 15 parts by weight of alkali salt of hydroxylated organic acid, 10 to 35 parts by weight of ester, 8 to 30 parts by weight of melamine-formaldehyde condensate containing sulphonic groups and 10 to 30 parts by weight of amino derivative.
According to another particularly advantageous embodiment of the invention, the aforementioned mixture comprises an emulsifier. For this purpose, the amount of
this emulsifier is 0.2 to 2 parts by weight.
The present invention also relates to a process for manufacturing the admixture and the cement, mortar, concrete, fluid pastes, comprising the combination of hydraulic cement, aggregates, water and the adjuvant: .aivant the invention. .
Other details and features of the invention will emerge from the description given below, by way of nonlimiting example, of adjuvants for compositions based on
cement, according to the invention, fluid cement pastes
and concretes and mortars containing these adjuvants, as well as a process for preparing the adjuvant.
The cements concerned by the present invention are “hydraulic cements”. Hydraulic cements include, but are not limited to, portlands cements without or with secondary constituents (slag, ash and pozzolan), mixed metallurgical cements, clinker hitier cements, etc.
The invention is mainly aimed at an adjuvant
for compositions based on hydraulic cement, compatible with all hydraulic cements, which optimizes workability
of these compositions and which gives them mechanical strengths from the first days at least equal in general to cement compositions which do not contain any, or which contain known adjuvants, while giving them great homogeneity and stability, resulting in low bleeding and retaining a good appearance to cured mixes.
This adjuvant comprises a lignosulphonate and a melamine-formaldehyde condensate containing sulphonic groups, to which an alkali salt of hydroxylated organic acid, an ester, an amino derivative, and optionally an emulsifier has been added.
Although previous literature has mentioned the use
mixtures of alkali lignosulfonates, salts of hydroxylated organic acid, alkali salts of alkylbenzenesulfonic acid, water-soluble amines and inorganic chlorides.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
to increase the mechanical resistance of mortars and concretes at young ages, we n can obtain by the use of such adjuvants all the advantages conferred by the adjuvant of the invention, as will be seen more particularly in the tables given below.
According to the invention, the lignosulfonate, which is either an alkali or alkaline earth lignosulphonate, or optionally a mixture of alkali lignosulphonate and alkaline earth lignosulphonate and the alkali salt of hydroxylated organic acid,
<EMI ID = 2.1>
sodium, potassium and ammonium nates and tartrates, and their mixtures, as well as the sulfonated melamine-formaldehyde resin are the fluidizers of the adjuvant. The hydroxylated acid salt, although in fact improving the thinning power of the lignosulfonate, which, as already mentioned, may prove to be insufficient, can still give rise to important re-effects.
<EMI ID = 3.1> <EMI ID = 4.1>
nium, magnesium, and calcium, and mixtures of these various compounds, magnesium lignosulfonate being particularly suitable. Sodium gluconate is also particularly useful for this purpose. The introduction of the sulfonated melamine-formaldehyde condensate, also a well-known thinner, as already indicated, gives the mixture of the two other aforementioned thinners, namely the sulfonate lines and the alkali metal salt of hydroxylated acid, - the property of further increasing the consistency caused by this mixture and at the same time the homogeneity of the mortar and concrete pastes. According to the invention, the melamine-formaldehyde condensate containing sulfonic groups is preferably in the form of an aqueous solution containing from 10 to 50% by weight of solid matter.
For the preparation of these melamine-formaldehyde condensates in the form of aqueous solutions, which however does not enter into the

However, the combined use of these three thinners still having the drawback of causing air entrainment, this drawback is remedied, according to the invention, by adding to these thinners, an ester having

such as tributylphosphate, or a mixture of the two.
<EMI ID = 7.1>
components mentioned above;
- an amino derivative acting as a setting and hardening accelerator, multiplying by a factor of 2 to 3 the mechanical strengths of cement mixtures at 24 hours, obtained with the addition of the thinner alone, triethanolamine being particularly suitable for this effect, and, optionally, - an emulsifier, intended for emulsifying organic compounds not soluble in water, such as optionally the ester taken as deaerator. The emulsifier can be chosen from nonionic or anionic agents. Among <EMI ID = 8.1>
phenol prove to be particularly advantageous, while among the anionic emulsifiers, it is preferred to use the salts
<EMI ID = 9.1>
sodium is particularly suitable.
All the components mentioned in fact optimize, in the given proportions, the properties of cements, mortars and concretes, such as consistency, bleeding, setting time and resistance.
The adjuvant according to the invention comprises 10 to 35. parts by weight, preferably 18 to 26 parts by weight of lignosulfonate, 3 to 15 parts by weight, preferably 6 to 10 parts by weight of alkali salt of organic-hydroxy acid,

0.2 to 2 parts by weight, preferably 0.4 to 1 part by weight of emulsifier.

in the form of an aqueous solution or in the anhydrous form, and the emulsion thus obtained is then mixed with the cement composition. Superior results, obtained using the adjuvant
of the invention, are completely unexpected in the preparation of cement-based compositions, in particular in the preparation of mortars and concretes, compared to the existing state of the art. The superior properties of fresh and hardened cement mixtures incorporating the admixture of the invention are clearly demonstrated in the following non-limiting examples. It will be noted from the results obtained in these examples, that the dose of 0.30% of admixture is generally more indicated with Portland concretes and that of 0.40% slightly preferable with slag cement concretes.
