Device for liquid treatment
and the drying of coils
Priority of two patent applications filed in Denmark on October 8, 1975 under n [deg.] 4531/75 and on August 3, 1976 under
n [deg.] 3498/76 The present invention relates to an apparatus for the treatment with a liquid and the drying of coils.
The development of the textile industry
in recent years has involved the replacement of the troublesome process of processing skein yarn (float yarn) with processing coil yarn. However, various difficulties have arisen in dealing with soft spools, i.e., coils of bulky and soft yarn, since these spools offer very little resistance to deformation in the longitudinal direction.
In addition, it is not possible to prevent the coils, once placed on vertical distribution tubes, from deforming under the influence of gravity, the lower coils deforming the most. This in turn results in heterogeneous penetration of liquid during wet processing or air during drying and leads, for example, to a heterogeneous shade after dyeing or to a heterogeneous moisture content after drying.
These drawbacks can of course be overcome by making use of devices comprising horizontal distribution tubes and, in fact, devices with a quadrangular cross section and horizontal distribution tubes are already known. However, these devices have only a limited field of application because their manufacture in the form of autoclaves resistant to high pressures is too expensive.
In order to be able to be constructed as an autoclave without excessive costs, the apparatus must include a cylindrical vessel. The known devices comprising a cylindrical container suffer, however, from numerous drawbacks. A horizontal cylindrical container has a larger footprint and has the additional drawback of having to be emptied of the liquid it contains before being able to withdraw or inspect the coils which have been introduced therein. For this reason, it is preferable when dyeing soft coils to use devices with a vertical cylindrical container, since
that such devices occupy a smaller surface area of the floor, that the coils can be removed from them by lifting without the need to empty the liquid from the container and because such devices are universally applicable, for example also for treatment by a yarn liquid in skeins, combed,
in bulk and in hard coils, simply by changing the product introduced into the container.
A simple device is already known comprising a vertical cylindrical container and horizontal distributor tubes on which the coils can be placed. This apparatus comprises a distribution chamber in the form of a central vertical tube from which distribution tubes extend radially. This apparatus also suffers from essential drawbacks among which the most important consists in a very poor use of the volume of the container, being
since the coils are not close together
others only near the center of the container, while large unused spaces remain near the wall of the container.
The object of the present invention is therefore
an apparatus for liquid treatment and drying of coils comprising a vertical cylindrical vessel having an internal member of horizontal distributor tubes on which the coils can
be arranged, the apparatus also comprising a
means for circulating liquid or air through the distributor tubes.
The apparatus according to the present invention is characterized more particularly by the fact that. the internal organ has one or more chambers
distribution from which the distribution tubes extend in parallel.
In this way, a better use of the volume of the container is obtained and it is simultaneously possible to mechanize the assembly of the coils.
Depending on the sizes of the coils, various embodiments of the apparatus offering
the best use of the container volume are possible. A particularly suitable embodiment is characterized by the fact that the internal organ comprises an oblong distribution chamber and two
or more than two distribution chambers housed along the wall of the container and in that the distributor tubes are of equal length. In this way,
the columns of coils are of equal length,
which promotes uniform treatment of the yarn.
A second embodiment of the apparatus which is particularly suitable for the mechanization of the assembly of coils, is characterized
in that the internal organ comprises a single chamber
distribution housed along the wall of the container, chamber from which the distribution tubes extend in the same direction.
A third embodiment of the apparatus offering a particularly high degree of utilization of the volume of the container is characterized
by the fact that the internal organ comprises a chamber
oblong distribution and diametrically arranged
and two or more distribution chambers housed
along the wall of the container and in that the distributor tubes have different lengths.
The distribution chambers can be polygonal, which can facilitate the connection of the distribution tubes in such a way that the best possible filling of the volume of the container by the coil columns is obtained. Polygonal distribution chambers can also be of advantageous construction, since usually the distribution chambers must have a shape significantly different from the tubular (cylindrical) shape by having an oblong cross section.
The distribution chambers can also have rounded shapes or combinations of rounded and angular shapes, as such shapes offer manufacturing advantages and strength advantages, as compared to polygonal distribution chambers.
The present invention will now be illustrated with the aid of the accompanying drawings, in which:
- Figure 1 shows a horizontal sectional view of an embodiment of an apparatus according to the invention with wire spools mounted therein and a sectional view of one of the coil columns,
- Figure 2 shows a horizontal sectional view of a similar embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention where the distribution chambers have different shapes,
- Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view of a second embodiment of an apparatus according to the invention,
- Figure 4 is a horizontal sectional view of a similar embodiment of the apparatus according to the invention where the distribution chambers have different shapes,
and
- Figure 5 is a horizontal sectional view of a third embodiment of an apparatus according to the invention. FIG. 1 shows a cylindrical container in which is housed an internal member comprising a polygonal, oblong distribution chamber 2, arranged diametrically with respect to the container and two triangular distribution chambers 3 along the wall of the container. Liquid or air is introduced into
-these distribution chambers using a pump or a propellant (not shown) at the bottom of the container, the liquid or air then flowing into the parallel distribution tubes 4 through openings 5 therein have been practiced and then comes out to enter 6 coils, after which
it returns to the pump through the free space existing in the container. Each coil column comprises, in this case, four coils. The coils are held in place on the distributor tubes by means of a bottom cover 7 and a head cover 8. Reference notation 9 designates a locking device which locks the head cover 8. bottom 7 and head cover 8 are manufactured either in the form of ball segments as illustrated or in the form of conical surfaces. These shapes make it possible to give the illustrated polygonal shape to the central distribution chambers 2. Reference notation 10 designates an end chamber forming a liquid-tight closure with the central distribution chamber 2 at the top and forming, at the bottom, a water-tight closure. liquid with the inlet tube.

cord between the terminal chamber 10 and the two distribution chambers 3. When a central distribution chamber 2 thus feeds six coil columns, three on each side of the chamber, and two distribution chambers 3 supply their respective coil columns housed in the cylindrical segments located between the ends of the six coil columns and the wall of the container, good use of the cross section of the container is achieved.
Isolated structure allows simple mechanization
of the assembly of the coils, since the coils
in question must be introduced in parallel in opposite directions.
In Figure 2, reference numeral 1 represents the cylindrical container in which the internal organ is arranged so as to include
an oblong, oval distribution chamber arranged diametrically with respect to the container and two circular distribution chambers 3 at the wall of the container. Furthermore, this embodiment corresponds exactly to the embodiment shown in Figure 1.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 3, a single polygonal distribution chamber 2 is housed in the vicinity of the wall of the container and three parallel distributor tubes 4 extend in the same direction from this distribution chamber, the columns coils 6 being arranged on these distributor tubes. This embodiment is particularly suitable for the mechanization of the assembly of the coils, given that all the coils in question are introduced on the same side on the distributor tubes.
