<EMI ID=2.1>

Descriptive memory formed in support of an application for an improvement patent in Belgian patent application n [deg.] 6 / 45.479, filed on
<EMI ID = 1.1>
The present invention relates to an improvement made to a steel round intended to be used for the reinforcement of concrete, as described in Belgian patent application No. [deg.] 6/45. 479 of 7.5.1976, filed in the name of the same applicant; it is applicable both to bars, the profile of which is for example obtained directly in the hot rolling mill, and to ribbed wires obtained for example by drawing.
The improvement relates more specifically to the aspect "adhesion" of the round to the concrete. i
Many profiles of reinforcing bars or ribbed wires are known, profiles whose characteristics have been retained for reasons of connection of the reinforcing element to the concrete, to reduce the possibilities of displacement of the bar or of the wire. with respect to the concrete which coats them or else for reasons of mechanical strength, for example at the points of connection of certain ribs to each other.
Very often, reinforcing bars thus include two or more so-called longitudinal ribs, that is to say parallel to the longitudinal axis of the round, and transverse or oblique ribs, also called hooking ribs, arranged between the bars. longitudinal ribs. The various embodiments such as oblique ribs, parallel to each other or not, in the form of a helix, in "fishbones", are well known to practitioners, and moreover typical of various conventional profiles.
The reinforcing bar described in the Belgian patent application
n [deg.] 6 / 45.479 has a profile which differs from bars already on the market, by the particular arrangement of the oblique ribs formed on the round.
The reinforcing bar in question is provided with two ribs parallel to the longitudinal axis of the round and diametrically opposed and,
<EMI ID = 2.1>
longitudinal round an angle of between 40 [deg.] and 70 [deg.], in that the oblique ribs are grouped regularly in pairs and in that the distance between two neighboring ribs belonging to two pairs
<EMI ID = 3.1> By "plane of an oblique rib" is meant, in
the description of the round in question, the median plane of the rib concerned; apart from its width, the oblique rib in question would therefore constitute a crescent inscribed in this plane.
Likewise, it should be noted that the distances and intervals of which
it is question are counted from the said median planes of the ribs, perpendicular to these planes; the width of the ribs and the inclination of their sides are therefore not involved in determining the lengths.
The object of the present invention is to improve the profile of the reinforcing bar described in the main patent, with a view to ensuring optimum adhesion of the round to the concrete.
The reinforcing bar, object of the present invention, which moreover meets the characteristics of the round described in the main patent, is essentially characterized in that the sum of the interval between two ribs of the same pair of oblique ribs and of the distance between two neighboring ribs belonging to two successive pairs of oblique ribs, sum divided by the sine of the angle made by the planes of the oblique ribs with the longitudinal axis of the circle, is at most equal to 1, 6 times the diameter nominal round.
In the particular case where we are dealing with rounds whose nominal diameter is greater than 12 mm, the sum of said distances divided by the sine of said angle is at most equal to 1.2 fols the nominal diameter of the round.
According to an advantageous variant of the reinforcing bar profile
of the invention, the distance between two neighboring ribs belonging to two successive pairs of oblique ribs, divided by the sine of the angle made by the planes of the oblique ribs with the longitudinal axis of the circle, is itself at most equal at 0.8 fols the nominal diameter of the bar.
