(a) lorsque la lame est usée, la lame et le manche doivent être remplacés;
- les figures 1a, 1b et 1c illustrent la disposition et les dimensions respectives des éléments essentiels d'un porte-lame, suivant l'invention;
- la figure 1d est une vue en perspective, illustrant l'assemblage de ces éléments;
- la figure 3 est une vue en coupe longitudinale;
- les figures 4a, 4b et 4c illustrent des variantes de porte-lame suivant l'invention;
<EMI ID=2.1>
<EMI ID=3.1>

<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
en réalisant l'un des éléments en un alliage aimanté;
saillies et(ou) évidements coopérant avec desdécoupes dans ou des saillies sur la partie arrière de la lame pour éviter tout Glissement latéral de celle-ci;
Blade holder device for razors,
Dissection knives, scalpds and the like The present invention relates to an improved blade holder device that can be used to make razors, dissection knives, scalpels, and other similar sharp instruments.
Metallurgy is continually developing new alloys and some of these are suitable for producing blades with ever improving properties. These new alloys are, however, relatively expensive and it is therefore important to be able to use them in as limited quantities as possible.
In particular in the field of razors, there are many proposals relating to blade holders with a blade of reduced dimensions, permanently placed in a handle. However, these blade holders have certain disadvantages:
(a) when the blade is worn out, the blade and handle should be replaced;
(b) the dimensions of the slats are not yet small enough to be economical, and
(c) when the position of the blade in the handle is changed, for example by a fall of the blade holder, it is very difficult to reposition it precisely and the user runs the risk of injury when using it by the following.
The invention relates to a blade holder of the type defined, in which the exchange of blades is facilitated.
The blade holder according to the invention comprises two retaining elements, defining between them
a housing for a blade, a means to prevent
the lateral sliding of the blade and a means to limit the penetration of the latter into the housing, the distance between the two retaining elements being adapted or adaptable to the thickness of the blade so as to ensure the maintenance of the latter in its housing, during use of the blade holder, by forces of adhesion between the inner surface of one of the retaining elements and at least one surface of the blade.
In a preferred embodiment, the blade holder according to the invention is mounted on a handle of reduced weight to serve as a razor, the handle possibly comprising a magazine for spare blades.
The housing for the blade between the two retaining elements is advantageously accessible from one side to facilitate the removal of a blade to be replaced.
In the case of a razor blade holder,
the respective dimensions of the two retainers are preferably chosen to be slightly different to facilitate the insertion of the blades and to ensure an efficient shave.
The invention is described below in more detail with the aid of a few non-limiting examples of embodiments, with reference to the appended schematic drawings, in which:
- Figures 1a, 1b and 1c illustrate the arrangement and the respective dimensions of the essential elements of a blade holder, according to the invention;
- Figure 1d is a perspective view illustrating the assembly of these elements;
- Figure 2 is a side elevational view of a razor with blade holder according to the invention, of which
- Figure 3 is a longitudinal sectional view;
- Figures 4a, 4b and 4c illustrate variants of blade holder according to the invention;
- Figures 5a and 5b are respectively a side view and a sectional view of a ballpoint pen fitted incidentally with a blade holder according to the invention, and
- Figures 6a and 6b are analog views - <EMI ID = 1.1>
blades according to the invention.
The blade holder according to the invention consists of a first rectangular retaining element 1 (fi
<EMI ID = 2.1>
gular (figure 1c), slightly narrower than element 1, and an intermediate element 3 (figure 1b), slightly narrower and slightly shorter than
the two outer elements 1 and 2.
the superposition of these three elements,
as illustrated in Figure 1d, defines the housing 4 for a blade. It can also be seen from FIG. 1b that on side 5, the lateral edges of elements 1, 2 and 3 lie in the same plane, thus forming on side 6 a deeper recess (24).
The blade holder according to the invention can be used for many applications. The distance between the retaining elements 1 and 2 is chosen according to the thickness of the blade to be inserted in the housing 4,
so as to retain the latter by the adhesive force of the outer surfaces of the blade against the inner surfaces of the elements 1 and 2. The dimensions of the blade to be inserted can therefore be very small, in particular its width, which is chosen such that,
the blade abutting against the intermediate element 3, its cutting edge protrudes between the two retaining elements 1 and 2. In all applications, it is obviously necessary to provide an appropriate means, preventing lateral sliding of the blade.
Figures 2 and 3 illustrate the use of a blade holder according to the invention to constitute
a razor. Such a razor 10 comprises a handle 11, on which is mounted a blade holder head 12 and which,
in the illustrated embodiment, comprises a ma-
<EMI ID = 3.1>
12 has an L-section and is fixed to the handle 11 by a threaded device 14 in an inclined position
(cf. figure 3). It comprises a lower support 15 and an upper protective plate 16, both of triangular section, between which is inserted the blade holder 18 according to the invention. The support 15 comprises on each side an upright 17 intended to prevent the lateral sliding of the inserted blade.
Figure 3 clearly shows that the width of the cutting part, that is to say the part made of special alloy, of a blade 18 according to the invention is markedly smaller than for the known blades to be clamped in a razor or similar. The handle 11 is in two parts with threaded ends, which can be unscrewed to give access to the spare blade magazine 13,
Apart from its use in a razor, the blade holder according to the invention can be used for other applications, some of which are illustrated by way of non-limiting examples in FIGS. 4
to 6.

a blade holder 18 according to the invention for producing a double-edged razor blade 21 of conventional shape for use in a conventional razor.
FIG. 4a illustrates the fixing of a blade holder 18 according to the invention on a ring 22, which can be slipped over a finger and serve as a cutting tool.
Figures 5a, 5b, 6a and 6b illustrate two embodiments of a ballpoint pen 23, the other end of which contains a single blade holder (Figure 5b) or
with several blades (figure 6b), either removable or protected by a cap (not shown).

1 'removed from a blade inserted between the elements
retainers 1 and 2, for example to exchange it for a new blade, when the cutting edge is dull.
The blade is inserted until it abuts against the front edge of the spacer 3. Because the retaining elements
1 and 2 leave only a very narrow slot between them, the blade is retained by the forces of adhesion and friction between the adjacent surfaces. In the case of a razor, the resistance opposed by the bristles to be cut further pushes the blade towards the inside of the blade holder due to the inclined arrangement.
<EMI ID = 6.1>
The blade holder device according to the invention is not limited to the preferred embodiments, described with reference to the figures. Numerous modifications can be made thereto without departing from the scope of the invention.
Therefore:
1) Blade hold can be further improved
by making one of the elements in a magnetic alloy;
2) one of the retainers may have
projections and (or) recesses cooperating with cutouts in or projections on the rear part of the blade to prevent any lateral sliding thereof;
