Abstract

Photosensitive compsn. forming an image directly without any wet treatment process, comprising a dye which is photobleachable or photo-fadable, a ketone sensitiser and a high mol. wt. polymeric binder. Azo, azomethine, triphenylmethane, xanthene, axazine, naphthol, anthraquinone and cyanine dyes are preferred. As sensitisers aryl ketones are preferred, partic. benzophenones, acetophenones, benzoins, acyloins and alpha-diketones. Sixteen types of polymeric binder are specified. The ratio dye/sensitiser/polymer is 0.05-20:0.2-200:100 partic. 0.2-5:1-100:100. The compsn. may be incorporated in plastic and moulded or applied to form a layer on a support. No fixing is required and a high resolution is obtd. The image may be eliminated when no longer required; the process is simpler than electrophotography.
