Abstract

A bush has a stepped bore which includes a large dia. upper portion connecting with a smaller dia. intermediate portion at a seat, and an even smaller dia. lower portion in which pref. a ceramic insert is located. A sphere (e.g. stainless steel) having a dia. slightly less than that of the intermediate portion normally locates in the intermediate portion and rests on pref. the upper end of the insert. When air is blown upwardly through the bore the sphere is lifted into the upper portion and yarn is threaded through the bore, and when the air supply is cut off the sphere falls under gravity and traps the yarn against the seat. A second sphere may be held over the upper end of the upper portion of the bore. The device is easy to thread up, wear resistant and reduces damage to the yarn. Kinks in the yarn are also prevented.
