Abstract

The fruit holders are each four diagonally opposed spring fingers into which the fruit is loaded stalk end down automatically. Rows of these holders on cross plates, with central holes between the fingers, are carried on two parallel endless chains along the top of the machine. The descending heads are mounted in a traversing carriage with quick return, and consist of an upper head with solid cylindrical steadies and a lower head with hollow cylindrical knives into which the seeds are sucked, both heads having double acting vertical actuators. Wastage of fruit is reduced.
