Abstract

Coating of salted foods, by forming with dispersal at normal temperatures an aqueous dispersal of an edible, thermoplastic, polymerisable resin having pH 3-8, vis cosity 0.01-30 cps at 20 degrees C and 10-30 wt.% dry solids content, then coating the salted food and drying by evaporation. Gives transparent, brilliant, permeable coating with less tendency to sticking or loosing its brilliance under warm or damp conditions than prior art gelatin coatings.
