Abstract

The upper intermediate roll of an apron drafting device, and which drives an apron around a guide plate, has a central region of less diameter than the marginal region and is radially displaceable with respect to the marginal regions so that it can take up an eccentric position with respect to the rotational axis. Pref. the roll consists of a cylindrical cone on the central region of which is mounted a rigid tube of e.g. metal by means of an intermediate resilient sleeve of e.g. expanded elastomeric material. An annular of e.g. rubber is fitted onto each end of the cone to maintain the sleeve in position. The roll can be used with rovings having a density of 1-15 g/m and displacement of the central region compensates for local variations in thickness of the roving.
