Abstract

The auxiliary sinkers are arranged in pairs one on each side of a main sinker, and the ends of auxiliary sinkers extend outwardly away from the associated main sinker so that an end of one auxiliary sinker is in line with one cylinder needle and the end of the other auxiliary sinker is in line with an adjacent cylinder needle. The auxiliary sinkers are operated in pairs to widen a stitch and place it on the two adjacent cylinder needles. A wide variety of fancy operations e.g. open structure pattersn can be carried out when knitting e.g. stockings, tights.
