Abstract

Composite wire for automatic or semi-automatic electric arc or submerged arc welding comprises coating a known type of wire with a drawable metallic sheath which is welded, then drawn to 1 mm of the dia. of the wire ensuring that the ratio of powder to steel does not vary from one section to another of the wire. The sheath may be coated with Cu, Cpd, or any other material increasing electrical contact and preserving the wire from oxidation before and after drawing.
