Abstract

The bobbin has a number of parallel channels extending axially along it, and is formed pref. by helically winding two bands of fibrous material (e.g. Kraft paper). The fibres pref. extend substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the band, and the channels may be formed before or after winding. The bobbin stands up well to the dressing and heating processes to which the glass fibres package is subjected.
