Abstract
Composn. which is liquid-soluble to give a beverage (e.g. coffee) is produced by subjecting a powder-based soluble product to the action of heat in the presence of moisture, in the form of steam, for a period of some minutes. An edible agglomerant and a sweetening agent are added to the product before submitting the latter to steam treatment. Product is treated at about 95 degrees C for 30 secs. to 15 mins.
