<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Proceeded to support and make stable removable reservoirs for liquids.
The invention relates to a method for supporting and making stable tanks which are to contain liquids or liquid cargoes.
In the construction of reservoirs, one encounters great difficulties in the erection of the retaining and damping partitions of liquid displacements. This is due to the difficulties of fixing the partitions to the walls of the tanks.
The Applicant has found a simple and effective process for overcoming the drawbacks and difficulties encountered with the usual removable reservoirs.
According to the invention, inside the reservoir or container is formed a bulk pile of tubular elements, preferably short and with thin walls.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
According to a preferred variant of implementation of the process, causes a bonding or welding limit to? point surfaces, between the tube elements so as to make them integral with each other, thus forming an aggregate.
According to a particular embodiment of the method of the invention, the babal elements are piled up inside the reservoir by pouring out, and they are compacted inside by pulses, vibrations or shocks.
Preferably, for the implementation of the invention, short tubular elements of the order of a few centimeters in length, for example 1 to 10, preferably 1 to 5, of low thickness are used. of the order of 0.1 to 1.0 mm., with a diameter of the order of a few centimeters, for example 1 to 10, preferably 1 to 5. The length and the diameter of the tubular elements are chosen according to the shape and volume of the reservoir, the opening for the introduction. The tubular elements may have a round, square or polygonal cross section.
It is possible to use elements all having substantially the same length or else elements of different lengths. At will, the cistern or the reservoir, or one or more compartments thereof, can be completely or partially filled.
Conne constituent materials of the tubes, one can consider all materials capable of being put in this form, and inert with respect to the liquids to be introduced into the reservoir, such as metals or alloys, plastics. The metals or alloys which can be used include, without the list being able to be considered as limiting, aluminum, copper, stainless steels, etc.
As plastics, we
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
can use thermosetting or thermoplastic plastics, such as polyamides, polyolefins such as poly-propylenes, high and low density polyethylenes, polyvinyl resins such as rigid poly (vinyl chloride), acrylonitrile-butadiene polymers. styrene, fluorinated resins such as poly- (vinyl fluoride), poly- (chloro-trifluoroethylene), poly-tetrafluoroethylene.
As said above, the materials must be inert to the liquids with which they will come into contact. As liquids to be considered, we cite, by way of non-limiting examples, water, hydrocarbons such as gasoline, fuel oil, mineral oil, vegetable oils, wines, industrial or food liquids and we will choose the material (s) constituting the reservoir and the tubular elements according to the envisioned application.
By way of example, a simple embodiment is described. The starting point is an automobile tank, for example made of leaded sheet metal, fitted with filling and draining pipes. Tubular aluminum elements 1 cm long and 2 cm in diameter, having a wall thickness of 0.3 mm, are poured into this reservoir through the filling orifice. @
By knocking on the walls, the tubular elements are settled and filling is continued.
The resulting tank has greater rigidity than at the start, better resistance to deformation and, moreover, it is observed that the oscillations or displacements of a liquid inside the tank are very strongly damped. .
If it is considered necessary to obtain an ooherence

:. Uuas, such as.polypropylene, poly- (oM, vinyla) Polymers aexyldzitrile..bùtadize-styrene 'SA instead of small tubular aluminum elements, plastic elements, such as those indicated above can be used. , In the case of plastic elements, it is also possible to induce welding by wetting the elements with a solvent which makes them sticky and does not attack, of course, the material.

If it is desired to carry out the filling with tubular elements of different lengths, these can be introduced in alternating layers.
It can thus be seen that the process according to the invention lends itself to numerous implementation variants.
Of course, the tanks fitted out according to the invention can be provided with all the devices.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
usual tifs such as sieves, filters, gauges, perforated double bottoms, etc.
By the expression removable tanks "to which the invention applies, is meant any tanks or receptacles liable to be moved or to undergo the effects of displacements of their support. For example the tanks concerned include tanks on mobile supports such as as boats, trucks, wagons and other vehicles for transport including tanks mounted on flexible supports or capable of swinging, fuel tanks for supplying engines mounted on vehicles, amphibious tanks , rocket tanks and similar applications.
The process according to the invention, capable of very varied applications, provides the following advantages and improvements: consolidation and support of the reservoirs against collapse; - damping of the movements of liquids inside the tanks, therefore anti-ballast effect; - absence or reduction of noise due to welding or gluing, which eliminates or reduces the possibilities of displacement of the tubular elements with respect to one another.
These advantages zont obterus without aiminution these filling and emptying facilities, with a very small reduction in the capacity of the reservoir.
Of course, it is possible to vary the thickness and the ratio of the length to the diameter, that is to say the solidity of the tubular elements as a function of the size of the reservoirs and of the forces to which the tubes are subjected to. during tank movements.
We can also act for this on the extent of the
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
welding of the tubes together. Obviously in the case of boats, the tanks may include, in addition, so-called "active" stabilizing devices and in this case the invention will reduce the importance of the latter.
Of course, all modifications or variations in the embodiment of the process of the invention should be considered as coming within the scope thereof.
