<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Ensuite,
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
La figure 1 est une vue schématique en élévation latérale d'une installation suivant l'invention et d'une partie des bancs de rouleaux d'amont et d'aval-;

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
Les différents tronçons 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 et 13 sont années de telle manière que le transport par le véhicule 1, d'un produit métallurgique du banc d'amont 12 vers le banc d'aval 14 s'effectue corne suit! le véhicule 1 arrive dans la position montrée à la figure 1 devant le banc d'amont 12, à une vitesse égale à la vitesse de déplacement d'un produit métallurgique porté sur les rouleaux dudit banc 12, et se dirige vers le banc d'aval 14;
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>

"Product transport facility
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention relates to an installation intended to transport metallurgical products from a bank of tr sporting rollers upstream to a bam of downstream transport rollers and comprising a vehicle moving by rolling on a track between the two. aforementioned benches *.
For the transport of heavy metallurgical products on a substantially horizontal path and in particular for the transport of ingots or debauchery such as slabs, blooms and similar products from a furnace to the rolling stands, it is known to use either a train of conveyor rollers, or a carriage mounted on rails,. possibly fitted with transport rollers.
Unfortunately, when the transport distance is long, the use of a chassis dynamometer is very expensive, especially from the point of view of investments.
The use of a trolley lined with conveyor rollers, itself rolling on rails to transport metallurgical products from an upstream roll bank to a downstream roll bank for subsequent rolling of the product, poses serious mechanical and electrical problems.
For the transfer of the metallurgical product from the upstream bed to the carriage, it is necessary, given the successive subsequent movements to be carried out and to avoid the cooling of the product transported as much as possible, that the rollers of the upstream bed strongly accelerate the product, which supposes the implementation of a significant energy. The product thus launched is received on the rollers of the carriage where it must be rapidly decelerated in order to avoid violent shocks. This again results in the use of significant braking energy. Then,
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
once the product is on the trolley, it must be moved to the downstream bench, with sufficient speed to avoid too great a drop in the temperature of the product to be rolled.
This rapid movement assumes, on start-up, a rapid acceleration of the truck and, on arrival, a deceleration that is progressive but also very rapid, which will again require an appreciable expenditure of energy.
Finally, when the carriage has stopped in front of the downstream bench, the metallurgical product must, once again, be rapidly accelerated, by rotating the rollers of the carriage, so as to be able to engage said metallurgical product on the rollers. of the downstream bank. Once again, this results in a significant expenditure of energy.
Significant acceleration and braking require the use of a motor. , direct current supplied by WARD-LEONARD group or by rectifiers and which are relatively expensive *
In the known carriages, if there is a rupture of the tractor target necessary for high travel speeds, it is absolutely essential to provide expensive devices in order to absorb the kinetic energy of the loaded carriage launched at high speed. It even happens that local provisions prevent the realization of such a device.
The present invention provides a device which overcomes these drawbacks. It relates to an installation comprising a vehicle moving while rolling on a track, between an upstream conveyor roller bank and a downstream conveyor roller bank characterized in that the aforementioned vehicle is formed by articulated elements carried by track rollers resting on a closed-circuit track, arranged so that the articulated elements
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
appear at the end of the upstream bank when they are opposite this bank and at the start of the downstream bank when they are opposite this last bank.
'
Given this construction, the vehicle can be accelerated slowly over a fairly long path in the area of the track before the place where it receives its load, i.e. a small power is sufficient to drive it. set in motion and make it reach at the loading point a speed equal to the speed of advance of the product on the rollers of the upstream bed.
On the other hand, given that the vehicle describes a closed circuit between the two aforementioned roll banks, it is not necessary to brake it in front of the downstream bank because it retracts by a change of direction.
Other features and details of the invention will become apparent in the course of the following description of an embodiment of the invention, given by way of non-limiting exemption, with reference to the appended drawings, in which!
Figure 1 is a schematic side elevational view of an installation according to the invention and of part of the upstream and downstream roller banks;
FIG. 2 is a schematic view similar to the figure of a variant.
Figure 3 is a schematic plan view of part of the vehicle of Figures 1 and 2.
In these different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements *
In an installation according to the invention, a transport vehicle 1 consists of a series of support plates
2, articulated to each other; these 2 plates are mounted
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
each on shafts 4 which are provided at their ends with rollers 3 bearing on a raceway 6 formed by two parallel rails. The plates 2 are advantageously provided with unevenly distributed roughness 2a which diminishes the effect of cooling by contact following * lines corresponding to the generators * of the transport rollers and which are detrimental to the cooling effect.
lamination
The front end of the vehicle 1 is equipped with a stop 15 extending beyond the bearing surface of the products. on said flat elements 2.
The raceway 6 consists of an upper section 7 on which the vehicle 1 runs while it transports the * metallurgical product from an upstream roller bank 12 to a downstream roller bank 14 and a lower section 8 supporting the vehicle when it returns from the downstream bench 14 to the upstream bench 12. These two sections are joined by connecting sections * curves allowing the vehicle 1 to complete a closed circuit between the two banks 12 and 14.
The upper section which is horizontal is such that, when the articulated vehicle 1 moves therein the upper surface of the elements 2 of the vehicle 1 is located in the connection plane of the two roller banks 12 and 14.
The upper section 7 is connected by its end located on the c8té of the upstream bench 12 to a first curvilinear connecting section 9 extending by a rectilinear portion 9a above the lower section 8, also horizontal.
Likewise, this upper section 7 is connected by its end located on the side of the downstream bench 14, to a second curvilinear connecting section 10 extended by a rectilinear portion 10a above the lower section 8.
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
On the other hand, the lower section 8 of the raceway is extended at its two ends by curved connecting sections; the third curved section 11 is located on the side of the upstream bank 12 while the fourth curved section 13 is located on the side of the downstream bank 14. The third section 11 partially envelops the curvilinear section 9 and * has the same axis of curvature that this one.
Similarly, the fourth curvilinear section 13 partially envelops the curvilinear section 10 and has the same axis of curvature as the latter ,,
The different sections 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 are years old in such a way that the transport by vehicle 1 of a metallurgical product from the upstream bank 12 to the downstream bank 14 is carried out following ! the vehicle 1 arrives in the position shown in FIG. 1 in front of the upstream bed 12, at a speed equal to the speed of movement of a metallurgical product carried on the rollers of said bed 12, and moves towards the bed of downstream 14;
this product thus passes progressively without significant shocks from said upstream bench 12 on the vehicle which continues to advance towards the downstream bench 14 while rolling on the upper section 7 'Arrived in front of the downstream bench 14, the vehicle 1 s' retracts because it follows the curvilinear section 10, while the metallurgical product continues its path in a straight line and progressively passes over the rollers of the downstream bank 14. Vehicle 1 continues to travel on section 10 then passes gradually on the section 13 to end on the lower section 8 and under the action of low-power braking it stops approximately in the middle of said section.
When you start again, the vehicle 1 accelerated under the action of an AC drive motor, gradually acquires energy
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
optics which allows it to easily go up the curvilinear section 11 then to go up on the section 9 and to return trace to the drive motor to its starting position *
The vehicle 1 is fixed by a pitch 17a to an endless tractor target 17 stretched between two pulleys 18 and 19 of the same diameter and at least one of which is driven by a drive motor, not shown.
It is advantageous to start the vehicle on the inner section 9 not only to raise the sections 11 and 9 but also so that it reaches, as soon as it arrives on the upper section 7, a speed equal to that of the product on the roll bench% 12, which given the long distance used for acceleration allows the installation of a low-power motor to accelerate the vehicle 1.
In addition, known means, not shown, synchronize the arrival of the vehicle in front of the roller bank 12 with the position of the product on this bench * However, additional security is provided to prevent a product launched on the roller bank 12 does not fall into the raceway in the event that the vehicle 1 is not in opiate *
For this purpose, a stop 5 is mounted on a retractable arm 16 articulated to the frame of the installation; this stop 5 opposite the upstream bench 12 must stop a product coming from this bench, but it $ 'erases when the vehicle 1 has arrived in position.
Figure 2 shows a variant of the embodiment of the installation of Figure 1 in which the upper and lower sections nI! are not horizontal but sloping; in this case, the section 7a slopes from the upstream bank 12 towards the downstream bank 14 while the section 8a slopes from the downstream bank 14 towards the upstream bank 12.
The traction cable 17 passes through two pulleys 18a and 19a of different diameters and the

vehicle 1 can travel under the action of the piling ... both section 7a at the transport section and the return section 8a However, a motor is still necessary to bring the vehicle back from section 8a to section 7a, along the curved sections.
11 and 9 '
An installation according to the invention is advantageous given the low power of the motor necessary for its operation, which moreover is an expensive alternating current motor than a direct current motor * Its outrai the rollers of the vehicle. are not motorists what 'quickly the current supply by contacts always subject to trouble.
The present invention is not limited to form. embodiment described above, many modifications can be made .. in the construction of the articulated vehicle in the shape of the track, bearing and in the materials used for the production of this track.
