" RECHAUFFEUR D'AIR".-
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"AIR HEATER" .-
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
The present invention relates to a supply air heater for a boiler burner.
To achieve good efficiency in heat transfer fluid heating installations, it is customary to provide separate heat exchangers in which the fluid, at its outlet from the boiler, is used to heat an external fluid or the combustion air admitted. in the boiler. This last means is the only one which makes it possible to obtain flue temperatures lower than the starting temperature of the fluid introduced into the boiler. But such heat exchangers significantly increase the size of the installations, as well as their cost.
The object of the invention is therefore to overcome these drawbacks while providing substantial advantages as regards the operation of the boiler with which the exchanger is associated, advantages which are specific to the embodiment according to invention.
The air heater according to the invention is characterized by the fact that it is annular and concentric with the boiler with which it is associated and by the fact that it is traversed at least once by the air over the entire extent of its radiating part. The air circuits are arranged so that the heat exchange takes place
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
against the current between the flue pipes and at least one of them. The air circuit involved in this heat exchange is located closest to the boiler body.
The arrangement according to the invention makes it possible not only to reduce the bulk and the cost of the installation, but also to use the cold air as an insulating wall, thus avoiding any unnecessary loss of calories and the high costs of heat insulation. .
In addition, the arrangement of the air heater in the boiler makes it possible to easily and inexpensively place a bypass device in the air intake circuit to the heater, through which it is possible to send directly to the heater. burner part or even all of the non-preheated combustion air. It is thus possible to adjust the flue gas temperature to the optimum temperature, i.e. the lowest possible temperature but still hot enough to avoid corrosions due to the condensation of the fumes, taking into account the chemical properties of the flue gases. fuels used.
The invention will appear more clearly on reading the description which follows relating to an exemplary embodiment illustrated by the accompanying figure.
The figure shows in section a boiler comprising three coils 1, 2 and 3 through which a heat transfer fluid passes. The boiler could obviously have a different number of coils. The burner 4 receives the fuel and the combustion air in a known manner.
The fumes are collected in the smoke passages 5.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
According to the invention, the boiler comprises an annular air heater that is concentric with the boiler, 6, through which the air flows, twice in the present embodiment, over the entire extent of its radiating part.
The two air circuits 7 and 8 are in series, and arranged against the current with respect to each other. The cold air circulates in the external circuit 7 and thus serves as an insulating wall, avoiding any unnecessary loss of calories, which makes it possible to avoid the costs of thermal insulation.
The fumes at their exit from the annular passages
5 of the boiler are introduced into the flue pipes
9 of the heater. The heat exchange is done in this way against the current between the interior air circuit 8 and the flue tubes 9. At the outlet of the heater 6, the air collected and directed to the burner 4 is therefore preheated. by recovering calories from the fumes, which are then evacuated at a low temperature. It goes without saying that the air heater 6 may have a greater number of air circuits and of smoke tubes, the type shown in the figure only serving to illustrate the principle of the invention.
As was said above, the arrangement of the heater according to the invention, in addition to making it possible to reduce the size of the installation and to avoid the costs of thermal insulation, makes it possible to easily provide a device for adjusting the flue gas temperature to an optimum value under the particular operating conditions.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
It is in fact possible, with this arrangement, to place a bypass device very simply and inexpensively in the air intake circuit.
Such a bypass device is represented in the figure by a bypass valve 10 and an air control valve 11. By the play of these two lapping, it is easy to send a part directly to the burner, or even all of the non-preheated air, This feature is very interesting because it allows the flue gas outlet temperature to be adjusted so as to obtain the best possible efficiency from the boiler while avoiding corrosion due to the condensation of the flue gases .
