<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
La figure 1 est une portion du profilé d'un plat P couvert de la pellicule couvre-plat C;

Self-contained dish cover film and in particular dish cover and method for its manufacture and use.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate or at least to reduce the inconveniences caused by very tiring and laborious dishwashing, and by providing a very thin independent film, having almost the shape of the piece of crockery to which it is made. must be superimposed, so that it can be placed on this piece to protect it superficially and receive the dishes during the meal, -and then thrown with the leftovers, leaving the dish or the like perfectly underneath

clean, thus being able to put it back in the buffet without washing it.
The method of making the film consists of forming a sheet of material which can be stamped and molded, hot or cold, having a thickness less than or at most equal to one tenth of a millimeter, a concave-convex body for to form a self-contained protective coating for the dishes by adhering to the concave surface of each piece of dishes and thus allowing its use without the underlying surface being soiled, said film after use being thrown in the garbage with any residue food.
The dish covering film and especially the dish cover according to the invention therefore consists of a very thin sheet of plastic material, or possibly metal, having a thickness, in general, less than 1/10 mm, obtained in a series of tonnes intended for covering, which is simply placed on top of dishes or other items of the dish usually for sale, these being of porcelain, glazed pottery, metal or plastic.
Preferably, the sheet from which the dish cover or more in general the dish cover is formed, according to the invention, consists of a very thin sheet of polystirole, polyvinyl chloride, polyamide, polyester, acetate. cellulose or any other material which can be molded into a very thin sheet and having the. property of being odorless, tasteless and non-toxic and it is stamped to obtain the shaped object.
Temperature resistance between 100 and 4000 is one of the desirable properties of the material constituting the dishwasher cover and, in this case, the sheet could be formed by materials comprising silicones or the like. This pelli-

This can then also constitute a coating for pots, pans and saucepans, which must be placed on the fire or in the oven, ensuring that the food contained therein is not attacked from a mechanical and chemical point of view and at the same time. time the total property of the interior surface of the usual and conventional container to which the film has been applied and which serves as a carrier.
The dish cover or the dish cover according to the invention has a shape which follows the internal profile of the dish or dish to which it is to be applied, and in addition it is provided with a peripheral edge which surrounds the edge of the dish. the underlying crockery and has an upturned edge along its perimeter intended to cover the marginal edge of the underlying dish or the like, so as to prevent broths, sauces or other liquid dishes from s' infiltrate between the cover or dish cover and the underlying dish or the like.
The film will not only be able to be applied to existing dishes and held securely in place by the folded perimeter edge, but it will be able to adapt to dishes shaped expressly for this purpose, so that all the film follows exactly the contour of the dish and that the marginal edge has the shape of an inverted V, so that between the plate and the flat cover there is a reciprocal engagement such that it avoids any movement of the cover sheet even if its surface is requested by forces which tend to push it aside, such as when cutting meat in general.
The appended drawing shows schematically by way of example two embodiments of the dish covering film according to the invention and specifically:
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Figure 1 is a portion of the profile of a plate P covered with the cover film C;
Figure 2 is an improvement of the contour of the marginal edge.
In figure 1 we see the formation either on the rigid flat P or on the film c of different curves 1, 2 and 2 and edges 4 and 2 parallel to each other, so as to form a succession of embedments, which anchor the cover film C on the surface of the cover P.
In particular, the marginal edge 6 has an inverted V-profile, with an angle which can also reach 90, thus eliminating any danger of displacement,
Further, as can be seen in Fig. 2, to facilitate the detachment of the different stacked films when they are to be employed, at least a small flat Z-shaped area has been provided without the protrusion formed by the film. last edge. In . In this way, the packet of film can slide over the thumb like the pages of a book or like a deck of cards.
It is obvious that according to the principle of the present invention, it will be possible to produce films of identical shape to that of the dishes having a common profile on the market, just as it will be possible to create new dishes intended in particular to receive the protective film. according to the invention, the shape of which can be studied in a particular way to avoid the danger of reciprocal displacement between the protective film and the dish and in addition to prevent the infiltration of food below the marginal edge,
The protective film 2¯ can preferably be formed by a transparent material, so that the decoration of the underlying dish is perfectly visible, thus adding another aesthetic advantage to the use of this protective film.
