<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>

"DEVICE FOR THE FILLING OF FREE SPACE
BETWEEN THE TOP OF A WARDROBE AND THE CEILING OF A BEDROOM.
The invention relates to a device for filling the free space between the top / of a wardrobe and the ceiling of a bedroom.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Devices of this kind are generally known. One of the most well-known embodiments, also the simplest, is to surround the free space by means of a curtain. This curtain, forming so to speak a door, 'is attached so as to be able to slide on a rail or on a similar support, which is itself fixed to the ceiling, the curtain can be opened from one or two sides. The free space existing above the cabinet is thus delimited by the curtain and can at the same time serve as a shed for chests, boxes, or the like.
The drawback of the aforementioned system always resides in the fact that it harms the overall appearance of the living room or the bedroom, an overly simplistic means by destroying the harmony.
In the same vein, we have had to replace the curtain by a panel to delimit the free space between the top of a cupboard and the ceiling of a room. This kind of filling requires two trin-

gales, respectively fixed to the upper part of the cabinet and to the ceiling. To these rods, which are made either of wood, or of synthetic material, or of metal or similar material, said panels are fixed by means of screws, glue, or by a similar means; the panels can be fixed or removable, they can match the cabinet, or match the paint or the upholstery of the room.
The disadvantage of the latter system lies in the fact that the free space, thus delimited, between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling, must be considered
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
as lost, given that the storage of various objects proves to be difficult due to the method of fixing the panels; we could therefore store there only objects used during removal, because it is not possible to remove each time the panels fixed to the rods by means of screws. If we cover the panels with tapestry, they can certainly no longer be dismantled, because the tapestry stuck on the panels and integral with that of the walls, would be torn off which would necessitate a new upholstery each time, and would entail work and unnecessary fees.
The major drawback of the aforementioned systems for lining the free space between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling still resides in the fact that, by fixing the rods, traction is exerted on the ceiling, since the upper rod is fixed to the ceiling by means of screws, nails, or similar means,
The object of the present invention is to create another device for lining the free space between the top of a cabinet and the ceiling, a device which makes it possible, on the one hand, to completely delimit said free space. , and on the other hand, to use the free space thus delimited.
For oe purpose, the invention is characterized by the use of two feet adjustable in height, at the upper end of which is fixed a trim panel which extends over the entire width of the cabinet; oe panel, is attached to the foot, like a hatch, that is to say so as to be able to pivot around a joint, a hinge or similar means; the height of the panel corresponding to the height of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
the free space between the top of the cabinet and the ceiling.
Another feature of the invention lies in the fact that the height adjustable foot is in the form of a telescope and has at its lower end a U-shaped rail, which is fixed to the side or intermediate panels of the wardrobe. The support feet are attached to the side panels or to the middle panel of the cabinet, by means of the U-shaped rail, in such a way that when the panel is folded down into the closed position, it forms with the front panel of the cabinet, a flat surface.

In the lower surface of the tip there are provided at a certain distance from each other,
recesses in which the rotary joint and the pivoting lever are housed and held. The rotary joint and the locking element are separate parts or can be made in one piece.
The support foot and the locking element in the form of a pivoting lever, according to the invention, are made of brass, light metal or synthetic material.

The object of the invention is described in more detail below and an exemplary embodiment is shown in the accompanying figures.
Fig. 1 is a side view of a cabinet with its trim panel in the closed position.
Fig. 2 is an identical side view, but showing the trim panel in the open position.
Fig. 3 partially shows a perspective view according to FIG. 2.
In figs 1 to 3, mark 1 represents the height-adjustable support leg. The upper end 1 'which can be flexed upwards is fixed in a known manner, via a hinge, for example, a hinge 2 or the like, to the trim panel 3 which extends over it. the entire width of the cabinet. The trim panel 3 has on its inner face a locking element 7, consisting of a pivoting lever, which exerts its action on the upper end 1 'of the telescopic support leg 1,
The support leg 1 is fixed to the cabinet 4 by means of a U-shaped rail 6 which is arranged at the lower end 1 ".
This rail 6 can be fixed to the side panels or to the intermediate panel 4 'of the cabinet 4, by means of screws or by a similar means, so that the support piod 1 is securely fixed. On its inner face and near the rotary joint 2, the trim panel 3 has voids 9 located one in front of the other, and which serve on the one hand to accommodate the rotary joint. 2, and on the other hand, to receive the pivoting lever 7. These recesses
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
9 are located at a predetermined distance.
For 'blocks? the upper part 1 'of the support leg 1, the lower part 1 "is provided with a screw 8 or similar means
The process for mounting the mechanism according to the invention, for lining the free space between the top of a cabinet 4 and the ceiling 5, is as follows
On the side or intermediate panels 4 'of the cabinet 4, a height-adjustable additional port 1 is fixed at the required distance, by means of the U-shaped rail 6 and by means of screws. trim panel 3 at the upper part 1 of the support foot 1, by means of its rotating articulation 2, said trim panel 3 must be cut out according to dimensions corresponding to the free space between the top of the cabinet 4 and the ceiling 5.
The recesses 9, made on the inner face of the trim panel 3 are arranged in such a way that said trim panel can be cut exactly to the required size by means of a single line of silk along the upper edge of the panel * It follows that said trim panel 3 must no longer undergo any finishing after placement, that is to say that it must no longer be polished, lacquered, etc ... because the sawn edge is flush with the ceiling and, by therefore, is not visible. After setting the trim panel 3 to the required height, place the rotary joints 2 in the recesses
9 and they are fixed in a known manner, by means of screws for example, to the trim panel 3.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
By means of the rotating hinges 2, the trim panel 3 can follow a forward and upward tilting movement. In order for the trim panel 3 not to be able to automatically fold downwards, there is placed on the inside face of said panel, in the same recesses 9, which receive the rotating articulation 2, a locking element 7 forming a hinge and forming a lever. swivel. This pivoting lever 7 is placed on a spindle of known type, arranged at the upper part 1 'of the support foot 1.
Thanks to the telescopic shape of the support foot 1, it can be extended or shortened, so that this support foot 1 can be used to fill spaces of different heights.
According to the invention, the support foot 1 and the locking element 7 are made of metal, synthetic material or the like. The rotary joint 2 and the locking element 7 can be in separate pieces or made in one piece.
The advantage of the object of the invention over known systems lies in the fact that it is possible to fill the free space between the top of a cabinet and the ceiling, inexpensively and by means of a simple device that can be quickly and effortlessly adapted to each cabinet, while, thanks to the construction form of the support leg, it can be used for filling free spaces3 of different dimensions.
