<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

"Unwinding device for spools of thread".
The invention relates to an unwinding device for spools of the type comprising an arm capable of being engaged in an axial bore and of rotating around the periphery of the spool to lead the wire.
Unwinding devices are known in which an angled arm is placed in the bore of the spool of thread, carrying at its end a discharge finger for guiding the thread, which takes the thread on the spool and sends it, through the end. 'intermediate a tube, to a guide piece disposed at a fixed point on the axis; of the coil. The guide has a ball bearing which rotates in a bushing anchored at the fixed point.
This kind of device,

which can find application in the unwinding of fine threads. flexible, not suitable for rigid wires such as welding wires, because the unwound wire has detrimental torsional forces for its subsequent use, forces which can only be suppressed by imparting to the wire a reverse rotation. around its own axis. In the unwinding of the wire around the axis of the fixed spool, the wire undergoes, at each complete rotation of the arm, a torsion of 3600 which must be compensated by a counter-rotation of the wire around its own axis. However, such a counter-rotation cannot be carried out in the known devices, so that this rotation comes into play only in the welding apparatus and thus disturbs the welding process.
In order to avoid the drawbacks of known devices, it is proposed, according to the invention, to provide at the rotating end of the arm a wire straightening device for the suppression of torsional forces.
The characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge more clearly from the description which follows, with reference to the appended drawing, the single figure of which is a schematic representation and an embodiment of the device according to the invention.
In the axial bore 3 of the spool of wire 1 carrying a winding 2 is engaged a spindle 4 comprising a journal 5 on which is fitted a rotary bush 7. On this bush is placed one end of a column 6. L the other end of the column carries a bush 14. Between the journal 5 and the bush 7, as well as between the column 6 and the bush 14, there are ball windings to facilitate the rotation of the column. around the axis of the coil.
At the end. the top of the column is a thread guide 9,
The lower part of the socket 7 carries an angled arm 8 which extends over the front face of the spool and
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
carries at its end a wire straightening device 10 to which a tube 11 is connected, preferably a reinforced flexible tube, which enters a lateral opening 12 made in the upper part of the hollow column and opens in front of the wire guide
9. The upper nozzle 13 is preferably connected to a working machine, for example a welding device.
The operating mode of the device is as follows.!
The spindle 4, which carries the journal 5, as well as the sleeve on bearings 7 with the arm 8, is introduced into the bore 3 of the coil. We engage column 6 on the sleeve
7 and it is fixed there with a wing screw. The free end of the wire from the spool 1 is introduced into the straightening device 10 and pulled through the tube 11, the wire guide 9 and the nozzle 13. The wire then arrives at the guide rollers of the welding apparatus. ge who advance the thread during the work of it. Advancement of the wire through the guide rollers of the welding apparatus rotates the arm 8 with the straightener 10 authoring the spool and thus unwinds the wire therefrom.
Passing the wire through the rectifier eliminates the torsional stresses in said wire.
The wire withdrawn from the spool is thus fully relaxed and continuously directed towards the associated machine in a form straightened by rolling.
