FERMETURE EN t.A2'TPi 2'ti 1:.CPTaA:TI U..
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
<Desc/Clms Page number 9>
<Desc/Clms Page number 10>

CLOSURE IN t.A2'TPi 2'ti 1: .CPTaA: TI U .. FOR! LliCIP: #l \ TS A BOURRELET v '.: BDUC.'FiUUrFa.
The invention relates to a closure made of a thermoplastic elastic material, for example intended for the initial stoppering and re-capping of containers having a constriction at their opening, for example bottles with a mouth-rim, the sealing element. filling of this closure comprising an opening spout and the initial closure element a safety ring. removable along a separation line *
For bottles, known closures of elastic material suitable for filling have a large safety ring in the form of a skirt. The filling cap can be separated by means of a thrust exerted upwards on the opening spout. The skirt encloses the second bead of the neck .de the bottle.
These closures have the drawback, when they are intended to stopper bottles containing a liquid under high internal pressure, of being very difficult to open and close? because of the necessarily thick bead for the energetic maintenance of the closure. In addition,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
they are very bulky and cannot be implemented practically by means of closing machines for crown stoppers.
The aforementioned drawbacks are eliminated in accordance with the present invention by the fact that the safety ring executed in the form of a bead is arranged at a height such that it initially surrounds the deepest location of the constriction of the neck of the bottle.
Also according to the invention, the dividing line is arranged so that when the bottle is opened one part of the common bead forms a cap element or filling element and the other part or safety ring of the bottle. bead eventually remains around the colde of the bottle. The two bead parts firmly tighten the closure on the neck of the bottle. After dissociation of the common bead along the notch or line of separation, the capsule portion has only a partial bead, so that filling and unblocking can easily be carried out by hand.
By means of a deep notch made below the opening spout, a dissociation of the closure in the two above-mentioned parts can easily be carried out manually.
The opening process consists of lifting from the bottom up by pressing with the thumb the filling element of the closure by acting on the opening spout and thus causing a tear along the separation line.
Another important advantage of the invention lies in the fact that the total height of the closure only slightly exceeds the height of known metal closures, so that, patically. these closures can be sorted and shaped with the usual machines.
Finally, it should be observed that due to the absence of a skirt below the common bead, unlike the closures
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
known with tear strip, there is only a very low possibility of accumulation for beverage residues, dirt and germs. The simplicity of the method of manufacturing the closure according to the invention should not be overlooked either, owing to its particularly compact constitution which, moreover, is the source of savings in material.
Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the description given below with reference to the appended drawing in which:

The closure according to the invention is constituted by an element 11 forming a capsule and comprises a bead 12b directed towards the interior and a bead 12a for tearing off. Between the two parts 12a and 12b of the bead, the line of
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
separation formed by a notch 13a, 13B made from the outside to the inside. In this case, the notch 13a is made, particularly deep below the spout 14. This notch can be completely open at this location, which makes possible easy tearing along the separation line when cutting. the dissociation of the capsule and the lower part, that is to say of the safety ring.
The deep notch 13a slightly exceeds the area of this nose 14. This separation line 13a can be made to protrude further on one side beyond the area of the nose 14 and by this means obtain a favorable tearing angle.
Continuing to lift capsule 11, the notch
13b opens up to the side opposite the b ec. The notch 13b may extend in an annular manner so that the capsule 11 can be completely separated from the safety ring 12a.
According to a variant shown in Figure 2, the notch
13b extends down transversely to the bead 12a @ following line 13c. This variant has the advantage that, before the tearing of the thick separation line, resistance appears in the bead 12a, so that the capsule 11 at this location remains integral in the manner of a hinge of the bead portion 12a. In this way, the filling can be carried out in a hygienic and simple manner since the capsule cannot be placed in messy places.
At the upper face of the capsule 11 is provided a concavity 16. which is provided with one or more annular grooves 17 '. This groove 17 can also be made in the outer rim of the capsule. By means of this concavity thus formed forming a membrane which eventually thickens up to the rim of the cap, bending of the lid is avoided and consequently a withdrawal of the sealing lip of the inner cap with respect to the bottle and it is ensured a perfectly secure seal by the inner cap even for large
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
diferences in bottle mouth diameters.
In addition, the membrane 16 is such that the common bead 12a, 12b is not driven from the bead of the bottle. high internal pressure and consequently, due to the shape stabilization of the capsule 11, gives the required holding force for the common bead 12a, 12b even for an increased gas pressure, for example due to a rise in temperature.
The constitution of the membrane 16 prevents, owing to the stability of shape thus obtained for the capsule 11, a premature and undesirable opening, as well as a tear of the separation line 13a *
The membrane which is limited by the annular groove 17 can perform movements within these limits without the entire closure undergoing undesirable deformation as a result of these movements.
In the variant shown in Figure 1, there is provided at the inner part of the closure an edge 18 which is intended to simplify the sorting process in the closure machine and simultaneously serves to strengthen the common bead.
In a variant shown in Figures 2 to 4, a downward opening pull tab 19 is disposed between the ends 13c of the outwardly directed notch.
According to another embodiment not shown -, -. a spout 14 can be placed below the notch 13b and between the ends 13c of the notch directed towards the outside.The variant shown in FIG. 3 comprises an internal plug 24 integral with the capsule 11.
In the variant shown in Figure 3 on the right, there is provided an inner plug 26 having a concave bottom 27 as a special element introduced into the capsule 11. The rim 28 serves as a connecting member for the capsule and s' engages in the groove 29 of the capsule 11. This inner plug 26 prevents
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
almost completely eliminating this gaseous diffusion, the inner plug 26 can be formed from an almost completely impermeable material.
The raw material of the closure according to the invention can be any elastic artificial or natural material such as polypropylene, polyethylene, polyformaldehyde, mixtures of these bodies and copolymers, as well as natural rubber, rubber. butyl base and blades, vulcanized products, silicone rubbers, as well as other curable elastomers.
In the variant shown in FIG. 4, the separable partial bead 12a is provided below the opening spout 14 with a pull tab 34. Beyond the notch 35, 35a and 35b, the pull tab 34 can first of all be torn off and then the lower part of the bead or safety ring can be torn entirely beyond the notch 13b. Correspondingly, the capsule 11 can be separated from the notch 13b, as well as the filling bead 12b by an upward pressure exerted on the opening spout.
In another variant embodiment not shown, a small tear pull tab can be released below the opening spout 14 by tearing a slot directed inwardly across the spout; in this way, the capsule 11 can be easily separated by pressure exerted on the opening spout,
In the variant embodiment shown in FIG. 5, the notch 13d is directed obliquely in the tear bead 12a. Below the spout 14, there is a pull tab 34.
The opening is obtained by pulling off the pull tab 34, the Ions of the separating line 13d and by an upward thrust exerted on the opening spout 14. Two pull tabs
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
ment can be provided to tear the part of the bead separable along the two sides,
By placing the pull-out tab 34 below the opening spout 14 or 14a, the closure cap 11 without any action on the pull-out pull-tab 34 can be separated by a thrust exerted directly on the opening spout by tearing. along the dividing line 13d.
The spout 14a has notches 14b which prevent the deflection of a decapsulator which may be used.
The notch 13d formed obliquely in the bead is at the origin of an advantage according to which this notch causes only a very small weakening of the bead, as is the case, 'for example, when the notch is made. vertically in the bead 12a towards the outer edge of the closure,
The embodiment in which the notch 13d is oblique is particularly suitable for closing bottles in which internal pressure prevails, the embodiment in which an annular reinforcement 36 is provided on the surface of the cap 11 is particularly suitable for closing. bottles which have inside their opening a radial enlargement in the form of a groove; this is the case, in particular, in plastic bottles.
To close the bottle, pressure is exerted on the annular reinforcement 36 which has the effect of deeply pushing the inner stopper 24 and consequently this inner stopper, after release of the ring 36, is applied, under prior tension on the throat-shaped flare inside the bottle opening. '
The various variants of the closure can be designed or used to seal easily and without the aid of a tool. The draw-off remains unchanged because in the open position the closure is torn inside the separation line.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
To compensate for the weakening of the bead 12a caused by the arrangement of la.tirette 34, it is possible to provide a reinforcement of the bead portion 12b below, of the zipper 34.
In the variant shown in Figure 6, the bead
12b which remains integral with the capsule 11 and which is equipped with the opening spout 14c is surrounded by a bead 12-a to be torn. The notch 13c is of a depth such that between the de'bourrelet portions 12a and 12b only subsequently, a weak separation bead.
FIG. 9 shows in the initial state a circular closure equipped with an opening spout 14o. The dividing line
13c ends laterally to the opening spout by notch ends 13d. Opposite the opening spout, the connection between the bead portions 12a and 12b comprises a hole 39 intended to facilitate the departure, which makes the process of opening the initial closure easy when an upward pressure is exerted on the safety ring 12a. The hole can also be placed at the level of the spout or laterally thereto. The separation line between the bead parts
12a and 12b can chisel be formed by two notches 13c and
13th.
The notch 13c can be formed in such a way that the bead 12a to be torn is completely separated by tearing along the notch 13c, 13d. If the notch 13d does not extend to the outer edge of the spout 14c of the opening, the tear-off bead 12a is not completely separated and forms, after the opening of the closure, a spacer remaining integral with the spout. 14c. This spacer can moreover be used during the removal of the filling cap or also lice to put this sealing cap back on the neck of the bottle and by this means this cap always remains clean and ready to be entered.
<Desc / Clms Page number 9>
This arrangement of the safety ring or of the separable part of the bead allows from the outset to considerably reinforce the elastic pressure of the part of the bead remaining integral with the filling element around the neck of the bottle. In addition, the closure as a whole is flat and has a ribbed rim. Thus, the manufacture is particularly easy in simple form and it is possible to sort the closures in known sorting machines before the closing process. In addition, it should be noted that this decrease in the height of the capsule is the cause of. material economy.
Another advantage lies in the fact that the location of the separation line between the bead parts to be separated is not subjected to gas pressure and therefore the thickness of the bond can be particularly small, which allows to make the two parts of the bead very easily, that is to say to tear off the safety ring by hand. It is in accordance with the aim that in its realization the closure is appreciably narrower inside than the neck of the bottle; as a result, the two bead parts of the closure apply energetically, that is to say with prior tension one on the other and on the constriction of the neck of the bottle.
FIG. 10 shows a variant in which a tear-off bead 12a is provided with a notch 13f.
Due to a thickening 40 in the notch 13b, the tear line at the opening extends firstly along the notch 13b and then into the notch 13f. After breakage of the cross member 41, the initial safety ring is completely broken and the closure can be completely removed from the bottle.
