<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

Connection fitting for pipes.
The invention relates to a branch connector for pipes, in particular for ventilation pipes.
Metal branch fittings are already known, in particular in sheet metal, of various sizes and shapes, for example T-shaped which, on the one hand, are interposed in the main pipe 'on which the branch should be connected and, on the one hand, on the other hand, are connected to the pipe to be connected to the main pipe. These fittings are either cast in one piece or made up of tubular elements welded together. In any case, the assembly of these T-connectors requires an interruption of the main pipe and the tight insertion of the connector therein.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
However, the known fittings not only require a considerable amount of assembly work but also cannot be placed without difficulty in any desired location of the ventilation installations.
In ventilation installations in particular but also in other cases, it would be desirable to make the connection at the desired location of the main pipe by simply cutting a hole in it corresponding to the external diameter of the pipe. to be connected, threading the end of the conduit to be connected in this hole and making the watertight connection of any den. However, such a connection, if one does not wish to resort to welding the two pipes, is, on the one hand practically impossible to achieve and, on the other hand, would require the presence of a sharp edge at the location. connection which, as a result of the swirl it would cause,
would create a considerable resistance to flow.
To solve this problem, there is provided, according to the invention, a branch connector which easily adapts to an opening of a main pipe on which the branch is to be made and which ensures a regular flow. and uniform towards the pipe thus connected to the main pipe.
The pipe branch connector according to the invention consists of a tubing made of a flexible elastic material having, in its wall, an annular slot at its end edge and intended to receive a branch pipe, a flared collar having an opening in the center corresponding to the internal cross-section of the branch pipe, this flange following the shape of the main pipe to which the branch pipe is to be connected and also having at its periphery an annular slot intended to receive the edges of the opening provided in the main pipe, as well as an intermediate part, more or less funnel-shaped,
connecting the tubu- @

lure with the flared collar so that the whole forms a single piece.
This pipe branch fitting, which is preferably made of rubber but which, of course, can be made of a material having corresponding elasticity and flexibility, for example a thermoplastic synthetic material, is mounted in the tube. opening of the main pipe as follows:
the internal ring which is located on the inside of the annular slot at the free end of the flared collar is tightened, by bending it on all sides, radially with respect to the axis of the connector, and then - pledge this internal ring in the appropriately sized opening of the main pipe. The outer ring which is located on the outer side of the annular slot, remains substantially radially flared to the axis of the connector and comes to rest on the outer face of the main pipe.
Once introduced into the opening of the main pipe, the inner ring resiliently returns to its approximately radial initial position, i.e. it resumes its disc shape and thus rests against the edges of the pipe. the opening inside the main pipe.
It should also be noted that the flared collar is in the form of a flat annular disc, in the relaxed state, only if the wall surrounding the opening of the main pipe is also flat, and therefore, for example, In the case of main pipes with a square or rectangular cross section.
In the case of main pipes with a round or elliptical cross-section, the flange of the connector takes on the appearance of a 4-moon cylindrical surface of the desired diameter.
The other end of the fitting, that is to say the approximately cylindrical tubing, is simply threaded through its annular slot on the end of the branch pipe, the elasticity of the approximately cylindrical outer and inner rings. formed at this location by the annular slot making it possible to adapt the connection to branch pipes of a diameter varying within certain limits.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
In general, it suffices to mount the fitting on the two pipes in the manner described above, its sealing being obtained by means of the rings which come together elastically. However, one can obviously obtain an absolutely safe and tight connection of the connection with the two pipes by coating with a suitable drying or self-hardening adhesive the edges of the openings of the pipes and / or the faces of the rings on either side of the two. annular slots.
The invention will be explained in more detail below with the aid of an exemplary embodiment described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIG. 1 shows in section a main pipe, with a pipe connected to it by means of a connector according to the invention; and Fig. 2 is a section taken along line II-II of FIG. l.
In the main pipe 1 on which the connection is to be made, an opening is cut out (at its upper part in the drawing) which, seen from the cylindrical pipe 2 to be connected to the pipe, is in the shape of a circle. In this opening, a rubber branch connector 3 is fitted, which comprises a cylindrical tube 4, an intermediate funnel-shaped part 5 and a flared collar 6, which conforms to the shape of the main pipe.
The pipe 4 is divided by an annular cylindrical slot 7 intended to receive the end of the branch pipe 2 into an internal ring 4a and an external ring 4b.
Likewise, at the outer periphery of the flared collar
6, there is provided an annular annuity 8, which currency the outer edge of the flange in an inner ring 6a and an outer ring 6b.
The rings thus formed at both ends of the connector elastically enclose the edges of the respective sheet metal pipes 1 and 2 and, therefore, not only keep the branch pipe 2 in the desired position but also ensure a relatively good seal.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
The branch connector according to the invention which has just been described can be mounted very easily at any location on the main pipe and thus makes it possible to make the connection quickly and advantageously. The main pipe and the pipe connected to it, a transition is obtained, as the drawing clearly shows, ensuring a uniform flow, making the resistance to the flow as low as possible and preventing any fouling there. One of the particular advantages of this invention is that in order to achieve an airtight connection between two pipes neither of them need to be heated, as would be necessary, for example, if the branch was welded.
In addition, the connections can be made in the immediate vicinity of temperature sensitive objects, paint coatings, wall coatings or the like. In ventilation systems in particular, the rubber connection fittings are perfectly resistant to the maximum operating temperature: however: if, in other duct systems, higher temperatures have to be faced. , the connector according to the invention could be made from elastic and flexible materials exhibiting greater heat stability, for example silicone rubber or the like.
