   BREVET D'INVENTION
Société Anonyme
ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES
DE CHARLEROI (ACEC) résidant à Bruxelles DISPOSITIF DE DECEL DE PATINAGE ET DE SURVITESSE
POUR LOCOMOTIVE ELECTRIQUE.

   (Invention! Monsieur Henri HOLOGNE).

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 5>

FOR ELECTRIC LOCOMOTIVE.

   (Invention! Monsieur Henri HOLOGNE).

   The present invention relates to a device detecting the slipping of the driving axles of an electric locomotive and acting rapidly on the motor in question to stop the slipping, and also controlling, in the event of a dangerous runaway of one of the motors, the triggering. of the locomotive circuit breaker.

   There are devices which detect the slipping of an axle by comparing its speed with that of another axle, but they are not entirely satisfactory.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

   The device according to 2, the invention responds very well, on the contrary, to the aim sought; it is based on the measurement of the acceleration of the axles and its operation, which is expressed by the excitation of a relay, is manifested when this acceleration corresponds to a preset limit value.

     The device according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises, driven by each of the driving axles or bogies, a direct current tacho generator, the voltage of which is filtered by a series of cells composed of a resistor and a capacitor and applied '' to a differentiating amplifier, the output voltage of which attacks an electronic flip-flop, operating from a predetermined threshold, which supplies, for a period of fixed minimum value, a relay, the voltage of each of the genera.

   tachometric ratios being also applied, on the one hand, to a rocker operating from a threshold corresponding to a low speed of the locomotive and determining the ignition of a lamp which signals, during operation, the presence in the electronic circuits of the voltage of the generator and, on the other hand, in a logic circuit of the "OR" type which, for a maximum value of the highest of the voltages, causes the tripping of the locomotive dsbreaker.

   The device according to the invention also comprises means for testing, when stopped, electronic circuits and associated relays, making it possible to assess their correct operation.

   The following description and the accompanying drawings

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 .permit a better understanding of the invention.

   Fig.l shows schematically the assembly of a slipping and overspeed detection device for a locomotive with two driving bogies, the axles of each of which are mechanically secured.

   The bogies each drive, by means of a speed multiplier and suitable coupling members, a tachometric generator 1 whose voltage is applied to a rectifier-filter circuit 2 whose role is, on the one hand, to provide a voltage whose polarity is independent of the direction of rotation of the generator and, on the other hand, to rid this voltage of parasitic components such as those which come from the switching and modulation of the flux by the notches as well than those due to inevitable irregularities of the mechanical transmission, while maintaining an acceptable bandwidth,
The output voltage of this circuit is applied to the input.

   of another circuit 3 comprising a calculation amplifier which supplies a voltage proportional to the derivative of the speed of rotation of the generator and actuates, from a predetermined threshold of its output voltage, an auxiliary relay determining in turn l excitation of a relay 4 which acts on the motor of the bogie having slipped in order to stifle this slippage. The excitation of relay 4 is maintained for. approximately 2 seconds and is accompanied by the lighting of a corresponding signal lamp.

   In order to check on the fly, continuously,

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 that the generators supply their voltage correctly and that there is no break in their connections to the casing containing the electronic circuits, these are connected to a circuit 5 comprising two rockers, one by a generator, which operate from a low voltage threshold corresponding to a locomotive speed of around 2 km / h. and cause the lighting of signaling lamps 6 which should normally remain on as soon as this speed threshold is exceeded.

   The voltage from the two generators is also applied to an overspeed detection circuit 7 which includes an "OR" logic circuit which applies the higher of the two voltages to a functioning latch; from a preset threshold and determining the excitation of an auxiliary relay 8 for overspeed detection controlling the tripping of the circuit breaker of the locomotive and the lighting of the corresponding signal lamps.

   A push-button 9 makes it possible to check, when stopped simultaneously, the operation of the slip and overspeed deoel relays and of the electronic circuits which control them by triggering, in a circuit 10, simulation voltages which are applied to the circuit. circuit 7 and circuits 3,
Fig. 2 shows the composition of circuits 2 and 3 of fig.l. Circuit 2 comprises a rectifier bridge 11, supplied by generator 1, the output of which delivers to a resistor 12 followed by a filter composed of resistors 13, 14, 15 and 16 and capacitors 17, 18 and 19.

   The output voltage of this filter is applied, through a bypass capacitor 20, to a computation amplifier 21

 <Desc / Clms Page number 5>

 whose output drives a flip-flop 22, having an operating threshold which corresponds to the appearance of a slipping danger, followed by a monstalbe circuit 23 which, for a time at least equal to its own constant, energizes an auxiliary relay 24 which determines the operation of the skid detection relay 4 in fig. 1.

   All electronic circuits can be supplied by any suitable source, for example from the battery installed on board the locomotive *
The different electronic circuits incorporated in the device described above can be produced in any known manner meeting the desired objective without departing, however, from the scope of the present invention.
